When Love Breaks (Josephine)

Chapter 182

Ethan walked over to the car and carefully examined Zayn's condition.

After a moment, he straightened up and said, "Looks like he has a fractured arm and a head injury. I don't see anything else serious. Don't worry. If anything happens to him, it's because he wasn't paying attention while driving. It isn't your fault."

Even so, Josephine would feel guilty for the rest of her life if Zayn suffered any lasting consequences from this accident.

"How bad is his head injury? He won't end up in a vegetative state, will he?"

Ethan found her question amusing but he didn't laugh. Instead, he reassured her in a calm voice. "It's not that serious. You don't need to panic."

Just then, the ambulance arrived.

The crowd quickly stepped aside as the paramedics rushed over to move Zayn out of the car.

"Are any of his family members here? Do you want to accompany him in the ambulance?"

Without hesitation, Josephine raised her hand. "I am."

She quickly followed the medical team into the ambulance. To her surprise, Ethan climbed in as well.

She glanced at him gratefully. At a time like this, she needed someone by her side.

On the way to the hospital, the doctors conducted a preliminary examination before giving their assessment.

"The patient has a fractured right arm and a moderate concussion. There's also a possibility of rib fractures, which we'll need to confirm with further tests."

Josephine's mind was in a mess. She barely processed the medical terms.

"Is his life in danger?" she asked nervously.

The doctor firmly replied, "No."

She breathed a sigh of relief and asked, "Will there be any long-term effects? His head injury looks serious. Could he end up in a vegetative state?"

"We can't say for sure," the doctor replied, "Head injuries affect different parts of the brain in different ways. We'll need more detailed scans at the hospital determine the extent of the

ovel

damage."

Josephine instinctively folded her hands together and prayed silently. She didn'tnoveldrama

care which god listened to her. All she wanted was for Zayn to be okay.

Ethan watched her, mildly amused.

Back at the accident scene, he hadn't been able to assess Zayn properly. But now that Zayn was

lying flat Ethan felt more confidenc

in his judgment. Based on his experience, Zayn's injuries weren't severe. He would probably be out of the hospital in just over a week.

Yet Josephine was scared out of her mind.

What reassured Ethan though, was that her concern came from guilt rather than lingering feelings. It seemed that she had truly moved on.

"By the way," Ethan said. "I saw some chat records posted on Zayn's account. They all work in your favor. Did he release them himself?"

Honestly, he had been surprised when he saw them.

Those messages were damning enough to completely destroy Zayn's reputation. On top of that, Ethan had already reported the online trolling company to the police.

With all this evidence and a proper investigation, the truth would soon come to light. When that happened, Zayn would have no way to turn things around.

Josephine wouldn't just win. She would gain overwhelming public sympathy after being unjustly attacked online for days.

Josephine shook her head. "It wasn't him. It was Yvan."

Yvan.

Ethan's expression hardened at the name. He would have preferred if it had been Zayn.

A quick search online for news about Yvan and Josephine had led him to photos

of them together, posted by Yvan's fans.

Even though they were monochromatic polaroids and slightly blurred, Josephine's face was clear. She was leaning into Yvan's arms. Her expression

radiated joy, giving her annet

youthful

charm.

It was the version of her Ethan had always longed for.
