When Love Breaks (Josephine)

A moment later, a burst of static crackled through the phone, followed by the frantic voices of strangers.

"Oh no, the driver is hurt! Someone call an ambulance! Quickly!"

"Should we call the police too?"

"Of course! He's bleeding a lot. I think he passed out."

Josephine's entire body trembled with fear. She shot up from the couch immediately.

Had Zayn just gotten into a car accident?

"Zayn? Hello? Zayn?"

But all she could hear were the voices of bystanders. No one responded to her. Frustrated, she hung up and immediately called back.

This time, someone answered.

"Hello? Are you a friend of the driver? He rear-ended my car. Can you come over or at least notify his family? We're on Farlow Street."

"I'll be there right away!"

Josephine grabbed her coat and rushed downstairs. "George, get the car! Zayn's been in an accident. We need to get to Farlow Street now!"

George had been on the phone but he immediately wrapped up the call once he heard her. He grabbed the car keys and hurried after her.

On the way there, Josephine realized there were only two people she could call- Nadine and Yvan.

Unfortunately, she didn't want to contact either of them. After a moment of hesitation, she called Yvan.

Despite their distant relationship as half-siblings, a car accident was a serious issue. As soon as Yvan heard the news, he dropped everything and rushed over.

Thanks to George's fast yet steady driving, Josephine arrived at Farlow Street in no time.

The bystanders led her to the scene. She hurried over to the car and saw Zayn inside.

He was slumped in the driver's seat with his face covered in blood. He was completely unconscious. It was a horrifying sight.

He'd gotten into an accident because he was on the phone with her.

And she had provoked him. She had made him angry. But she hadn't known he was driving.

The more she thought about it, the tighter the guilt coiled in her chest. A wave of fear crashed over her. Tears unconsciously welled up in her eyes.

No matter how much she resented Zayn or wanted him to face the consequences of his actions, she never wished for anything this terrible to happen to him.

"Josephine," a familiar voice called out beside her. Startled, she turned and saw Ethan.

"What are you doing here?" she asked.

Ethan glanced at Zayn and frowned. "I was on the phone with George when I heard you mention the accident. I got worried so I came. How is he?"

"I don't know..."

Relief washed over Josephine when she saw Ethan. It felt like she finally had someone to lean on. Without thinking, she grabbed his arm.

"He got into this accident because of me. I didn't know he was driving. I said things that upset him. The next thing I knew, he ran into another car."

Ethan noticed how shaken she was and gently patted her hand. "Don't panic. Judging by the car's

condition, the crash doesn't look too

serious. Let's go take a closer look."

How could she not panic?

She clung to Ethan's arm to ease her panic. "Take a closer look? Do you know

anything about medicine?"

"I know a little," Ethan replied. Overnoveldrama

Hearing this, Josephine relied on Ethan even more. "Then hurry," she urged. "Go

check on him."
