Raynee had been extremely confused about the news. Joanne and Priya were such close friends. Why on Earth would they turn against each other for one man?

She didn't know what that man was thinking about either. He slept with both of them, proposed to both of them at almost the same time, and he showed no intentions of letting any one of them go. That didn't make sense! She understood that some men were just playboys, but how was he planning to keep the secret if he was going to marry them at the same time?

Raynee knew both women well, and she was sure they both had truly fallen in love with the said man. Otherwise, they wouldn't have gotten into such a huge fight in the middle of the streets!

Everything made sense now! That man that was dating both Joanne and Priya was not your average Joe. He seduced both of them and managed to conceal one relationship from the other for so long. Wyatt would have no problem getting his hand on a man like that!

He neither admitted nor denied the accusation. However, Raynee's response disappointed Wyatt. She didn't admit or deny her play in Waverly's incident either.

That was Raynee alright. The goddess who was always above everyone else. Even though they had broken up, even though she wanted him to stay, even though she wanted to fight for him, she never had to lift even a finger! The blood would never stain her hands.

"Don't try any of your sly tricks anymore. You're not a powerless child, fight for yourself! Even if you get rid of her, I won't choose you ever again, either! One year?" Wyatt suddenly chuckled. He sounded like a madman.

A thought suddenly struck Wyatt - people kept saying "treat your enemy with kindness", but every action came with a consequence, and by treating his enemies kindly he would only be treating himself poorly. He finally felt true regret. He paused as he collected his thoughts.

"I don't need even one more minute!" He said coldly, "Don't stick your nose into my business again. I don't even want to know what'll happen if you do!"

The moment they broke up, Wyatt had made the decision to never turn back. He was a man of his words, and when he said he was going to leave, he sure as h*ll was going to leave. That was why he had been so conflicted in the beginning. He wanted to contemplate and make a decision he wouldn't regret!

"Wyatt? How can you be so cruel? All this for a notorious, shameless mistress? They're my friends."

"They were your friends!"

Raynee roared with anger. Her words truly angered Wyatt as he cried out, "Raynee Wagner!"

Wyatt couldn't hold on much longer. He could no longer keep those emotions to himself. Today, he was going to let her know how much he had suffered.

"Watch your mouth! Notorious? Shameless? Ha! Raynee, how'd you think I ended up with someone like her?"

Wyatt pursed his lips and paused to take a breath.

"It's because of you! You gave her a chance to barge into my world! Time and again you reject my proposal because you didn't want to come home. And because of that, my family had been bothering me, day in and day out. Urging me to get married, forcing me to get married, putting me on blind dates, it's suffocating! Do you know how long this has been going on? Well, how long have you been gone? Do you know why she even got into my world in the first place? I couldn't bear the pressure, Raynee, and she was there to buy you time! She was there to help me breathe and to buy you time. But after another whole d*mn year, you still refuse to come home. I've tried reasoning with you so many times, but every time I bring up this topic you get upset.

I know she's d*mn notorious, and for you, I dug up her trauma and used it against her! For you! But I'm a human, too, Raynee, I'm not some d*mn emotionless robot. I loved you, but I feel sorry for hurting innocent people, for hurting her. I was trying to keep our relationship going, but you were wearing it off little by little. I treated your friends like mine, but how did they treat the woman I cared about?" At first, he only gave Raynee a couple words of warning, but she didn't take notice of them and continued doing whatever she wanted. That was what ultimately prompted Waverly to leave him!

Wyatt suddenly realized why Waverly became so easygoing all of a sudden. She accepted that petty officer so quickly, and they were already living together. The more mature her relationship with the cop, the further away she would be from Wyatt. That was what love was. Coming across the right person at the right time, and that Jake Lamer sure did intrude into her life at the perfect time! She took the chance to sever their ties once and for all. She knew he'd be unhappy about it, and that was why she kept on going!

No man could remain indifferent while the woman they loved was sharing an intimate relationship with another man!

Wyatt suddenly recalled something as his heart suddenly started aching. He clenched his fists so tight that they almost started bleeding.

"You don't have the right to say that about her, because she had never truly accepted me, and we have never been together!"

Raynee never had the right!

Carson's words suddenly rang in Wyatt's mind. Wyatt finally realized that he and Raynee were never fit for each other.

What did Carson say? He said that Wyatt pampered Raynee too much, and that was essentially why she was so wayward. He had spoiled her so much to the point where she had taken all of his efforts for granted. Wyatt said he'd waited for her when she left for her career. It was a massive sacrifice, but to Raynee, that was what he was "supposed" to do. When she came back, he was also "supposed" to still be waiting for her. Carson told him that someone who needed constant doting and coddling for a sense of security was not suited to be a girlfriend, not to mention a wife. Carson said Wyatt would be tired of it, eventually!

And what did Wyatt say? "I won't," he had said that with a merry smile on his face. Wyatt even almost made a bet with Carson.

Thank goodness he didn't, or else he'd be losing a whole lot of money. He was tired alright. He had been running on fumes for a couple of years now.

"Wyatt, you've changed. How dare you criticize me for another woman?"

She just called her a 'mistress', did he have to be so dramatic? Raynee didn't even want to imagine his expression right then! Thank the stars she was all the way over at the United Kingdoms.

Raynee put on her usual pitiful and wronged tone, but it was the first time she felt actual terror. Wyatt had surprised her. He used to be a courteous and reserved gentleman, but he just screamed at her like a child throwing a tantrum. And all for a woman that wasn't her.

"There's no use reasoning with you anymore. Just remember what I said. I assure you that I won't hold back next time!"

Wyatt hung up the phone.

The call had interrupted his train of thought. By the time he came back to his senses, little droplets of rain were falling from the sky. Wyatt's gaze landed on the towering building once again as the cold rain seemed to freeze his heart-

He clutched his phone tight in his hand and the chilly water hit his face as he stood rooted to the ground.

Wyatt's car stayed there for the whole night. He was neither a heavy smoker nor an alcoholic, yet that night, he had the desire to smoke until he took his last breath. One by one he lit his cigars. He eventually finished his own box and got several cheap counterparts from a vending machine.

The rain poured the whole night.

Wyatt didn't know why he was still there. He was too confused to think about complicated questions like that. He didn't even know how he pushed through the night. When the sun started shining, he suddenly noticed how suffocating his car s car had become. He coughed as he breathe in the smoke from the night. He subsequently left the car and lit up another one of his cigars. His brain was glue, blank yet messy.

His soul left his body once again as he stood by his car for what seemed like ages. When his consciousness finally reconnected with his physical body, he noticed that his cigar wet from the rain. His exquisite suit was drenched, and his body was numb. "A dead body breathing," he chuckled at the thought.

Waverly didn't have a good night's sleep in the apartment. She had slept on the sofa, and she woke up twice to take care of Jake. When the sun shone through the windows, she got up drowsily to check up on Jake.

He was still sound asleep, but his face looked livelier than the night before. Waverly heaved a sigh of relief when she placed her palm on his forehead. His fever had gone.

She kept thinking that his troubles were caused by her. The best she could do was take care of him while he was sick, and now that he was all better, she felt more or less at ease.

The towel and basin she had used the night before were still by his bed. Waverly decided to put them away in the bathroom.

gingerly. However, she slipped on something and almost fell head first to the ground. Thank heavens she acted quick enough. She grabbed onto the washstand beside her but the dirty water from the basin still splashed her all over. Waverly screamed as she quickly got a clean towel to wipe her face. She even almost vomited.

"Ew!"

That water was filthy! She had used it to clean Jake and it had been left for the

whole night!

Jake immediately woke up hearing Waverly's cry. He jumped out of bed and

dashed to the bathroom, "What? What happened?"

When he saw Waverly soaked in water standing in the middle of the bathroom, he

couldn't help but giggle.

"You're really silly, aren't you?"

Jake helped Waverly clean her face and he couldn't hide the contentment in his

eyes, "You should probably shower! Don't want you catching a cold. You can wear my clothes first!"

None of the stores were open that early! He probably couldn't get her any new clothes just yet!

Jake gave her a set of his brand new clothes and retreated like a gentleman as he shouted, "I'm gonna go grab breakfast, okay?"
