Be Your Lover Forever (Alicia)

Chapter 1510

Even from a distance, Wyatt could recognize the man. He had breakfast in hand and judging from the size of it, it wasn't for him alone. Also, he got two cups of beverages instead of one.

Wyatt had just calmed down, but the mere sight of that frigging cop undid everything inside of him. The wound on his heart that he had just mended was immediately torn open again.

Was she really with him last night?

Beyond a doubt!

The two-person breakfast shattered his last trace of hope. He could no longer convince himself that it was all but a dream. Wyatt felt true agony that not even words could describe. He felt like drowning in his sorrows.

He was losing his marbles.

His hand lay on his car door handle as he stood there motionless. His eyes followed the cop until the man disappeared from sight. The heavens seemed to be synced with his emotions as storms cloud gathered again and the rain blurred his vision-

infelicity accompanied Waverly wherever she went. Perhaps it was because Jake was a man, or maybe it was because he had just moved in, the facilities in his apartment were extremely simple. It took her ages to find a single soap. Therefore, even though Waverly had showered for a long time, she still felt filthy and uncomfortable. She couldn't even find a hairdryer after showering!

Men's houses weren't home without a woman!

Waverly wrapped her wet hair with the towel. All of a sudden, she thought of another man's house. That man didn't have a woman in his house, either, but his house was still cozy and had everything she needed!

On second thought, Waverly felt like her crude boyfriend was way better. He was oblivious of women, and that meant that he hadn't had any close relationships with any in the past. At least she wouldn't have to deal with any weird exes!

Every cloud had a silver lining!

Waverly checked her clothes when she got out of the shower. Some of them were still alright, so she put them on. However, her blouse was soaked wet, so she put on Jake's T-shirt instead. She made sure that her body was properly covered before heading out of the bathroom.

Jake happened to be placing breakfast on the table as Waverly got out of the shower. He seemed clumsy as he tried to arrange the food nicely. He was obviously inexperienced.

Their eyes met and Jake's lips subconsciously curled up into a wide grin.

"You're done. I wanted to buy you some new clothes, but it's still early, the supermarket's still closed, and look at the weather today! I'm sorry, but we'll have to make do! Come, come have your breakfast while it's still warm!"

Waverly returned a faint smile, "Did the fever damage your brain? If you can't put them all in one plate, use two!"

He even tried using a bigger plate. What an adorable fool!

She never had to do anything of those things growing up, but she still knew more than him!

Waverly reached out and helped him put the food down. Jake got two sets of fritters and dumplings. He even got some packaged food, in case Waverly didn't like what he got her. She then poured the soup into two bowls, and everything was set nicely in no time.

Jake swallowed his saliva watching Waverly arranging the food neatly on the table. For some reason, seeing the food getting placed so pleasingly like that gave him a great appetite. He then scratched his head in embarrassment.

"I usually eat on the way, so—"

He usually ate in fast-food restaurants, or on the way to the job, or sometimes, he doesn't even eat at all. He had never had the time to just put food nicely on the table like what people typically do.

Waverly smiled faintly again as she gave him a nod of understanding. She knew how tough his job was. He was so busy protecting the people he couldn't even make time for himself. It was admirable.

"You're not just clumsy, you're also a master quibbler. You have to learn to take care of yourself! Let's eat"noveldrama

It was a simple meal, but it was also a happy one. Waverly later cleaned the table and got Jake some water and his meds.

"You're looking better, but don't let down your guard. Rest for another couple of days, and remember your meds!"

No one had taken care of Jake like that before. He couldn't help but grabbed onto her tiny hands as he took the meds.

"Waverly, you're so nice!"

She grew up with a silver spoon in her mouth, but she wasn't as spoiled or pampered as the other young maiden from wealthy families. She was so thoughtful and independent, she was even better than his needy ex. He broke up with his last girlfriend not only because of his job but also because of her demanding family. It was draining. The thought of owning a house in this big city and the twenty-eight hundred thousand dollars worth of betrothal gifts exhausted him.

It wasn't that he couldn't afford those, though, it was just that sometimes, things like that made him more aware of his situation. Because of the enormous gifts her family expected of him, he stopped and started relying more on his logic instead of his emotions. Her family was not just greedy, but they also didn't support his work. His girlfriend couldn't understand him, too. In the end, he weighed his options and decided against marrying her!

Jake had never been so excited before. Their breakup was a blessing in disguise.

If his ex had been half as understanding and kind as Waverly, he would've put up with that family of hers!

He was a man, so of course, he had to give his woman a place to call home!

However, he hadn't had the chance to buy a house of his own. It was not only because of his job, though, he just didn't know where he wanted to settle down yet. He actually had a house in his hometown!

Despite that, at that very moment, he felt like settling down in Casterwich City wasn't such a bad idea after all.

Before Jake could say anything, Waverly had pulled her hand away and started reprimanding him.

"You're sick and you're still thinking weird thoughts! I need to go to work, Jake. I'm running late! Remember to take your meds and rest-"

Waverly didn't forget to nag at him as she packed her things and headed for the door.
