Chapter 633
Hendrix was happy about the development.noveldrama
During breakfast, Noelle even took the initiative to speak to him. "The weather is nice today. Is it okay if I drop by the Swifts' place later?"
Hendrix had been pleased by her earlier comment, but his expression faded when he heard what she said next.
Noelle sat there, looking at him seriously. "You promised me before. Or were you lying to me then?"
"I wasn't lying," Hendrix quickly replied, though his brows furrowed slightly. "But why do you want to go there?"
"I owe them a proper apology," Noelle answered.
But what Marla and Marshall wanted wasn't necessarily an apology.
Noelle had only just started to improve recently, so Hendrix didn't want anything unexpected to jeopardize her progress. Not to mention, he knew all too well how much Marla and Marshall hated Noelle right now.
"Don't worry," Noelle said, as if she knew what Hendrix was thinking. "I know they won't forgive me, but even so, I want to do something to ease my conscience. And I'm truly grateful for all that you've done for me during this time."
Noelle looked completely sincere.
Hendrix pursed his lips and said, "Let me think about it."
"I want to go today," Noelle insisted. "If you don't let me, I'll move out right now.
After all, I was never supposed to stay here in the first place."
"Are you threatening me?" Hendrix said through gritted teeth.
"If that's how you see it, then yes," Noelle replied indifferently.
Hendrix took a deep breath before saying, "Fine. You can go. But not today. At the very least, I need to inform the Swifts first."
"I want to go today," Noelle insisted firmly.
Hendrix couldn't help but feel that she was really taking advantage of his leniency: She was completely convinced that he would agree. And the most ridiculous thing was, he knew all of this, yet he still had no choice but to agree.
Now, when it came to Noelle, all Hendrix could do was compromise. He didn't say anything else. Instead, he simply got up to make a phone call.
Noelle glanced at his retreating figure before turning her attention back to her breakfast. Truthfully, she had no appetite. But to put Hendrix at ease, she forced herself tofinish the food in front of her.
She chewed her food mechanically, as if she were running on autopilot, not even thinking about what she was eating.
By the time Hendrix returned from his call, she had finished everything on her plate, even drinking the milk to the last drop.
Hendrix was pleased. He glanced at her and said, "I'll take you there later."
"Okay."
"Do you want to bring Rosie along?"
Noelle paused, then shook her head.
"I'm thinking of letting them adopt Rosie as their granddaughter," Hendrix said. "Seline was Rosie's godmother, after all. That way, Rosie can visit them often in the future, which might bring them some comfort."
This was something Noelle hadn't considered before. She hesitated for a moment, then asked, "Will they accept her?"
"I mentioned it briefly to Mr. Swift just now. He didn't outright reject the idea, so I thought we could bring Rosie to meet them today."
"Forget it," Noelle said. "Mrs. Swift got very emotional when she saw Rosie last time. I don't want to upset her again. Not to mention, I don't want Rosie to hear those words again-once is enough."
What do you think?
