Chapter 393 Sinister Plot
Seeing Veda getting anxious, Sophia knew she was halfway to her goal.
She smiled slyly, savoring the drama, and continued at a leisurely pace, "Why would I joke about something like this? Veda, I made a special trip back and called you out for coffee. We're all adults here; there's no need for pointless jokes.
"The truth is, I found out some inside information that I wanted to tell your brother. But we have our misunderstandings, and he definitely wouldn't listen to me!"
"But you're smart and clever, so I had to tell you instead. Veda, this isn't even the main point. I have to tell you, don't be upset, but Daniel's child... it's with Emily. She's already five months pregnant, and she told me herself!"
Veda heard every word Sophia said. But putting it all together felt like a punch to the gut, making it hard to process.
She steadied herself and immediately retorted. "That's impossible! Absolutely impossible! Daniel and Emily having a child... five months ago..."
Calculating the time, she realized that she hadn't run away from home yet five months ago.
It meant that even before she confronted Emily, Emily was already pregnant with Daniel's child? And Emily had been deceiving her and Michael all along?
Thinking about this, Veda's tone of denial became hesitant.
Her expression changed, her fingers clenched tightly, and goosebumps rose all over her body.
She couldn't understand why Emily always had to go against her and her brother. And now, they dared to cause trouble for the Smith family?
Stealing her man and making a fool of Michael, it was utterly shameless and intolerable!
Every time she thought of Emily, it felt like a fishbone was stuck in her throat, a mix of hatred and helplessness that was unbearable.
Veda knew well that if she went after Emily, Michael would certainly not allow it.
But did Michael know about Emily's affair and pregnancy this time?
If he did, would he let her go after Emily?
Thinking about this, Veda looked up, her face full of anger, staring intensely at Sophia.
Sophia was startled by her look, but seeing how furious Veda was, she knew this pawn was in play and would be useful.
"Veda, what's wrong? You don't believe me?"
Veda stared at her and asked. "Tell me, does Michael know about this?"
Sophia quickly responded. "Of course he knows. Didn't I tell you before? He didn't believe me! I had no choice!"
Hearing this, Veda's eyes flickered, and she thought for a while. Then, as if making a decision, she looked up again, her face dark as she stared at Sophia.
After a moment, Veda smirked contemptuously.
This left Sophia confused.
What did Veda mean?
After a long pause, Veda finally spoke slowly. "Sophia, I know you hate your half-sister Emily and want to use me, but I'm not that stupid. I won't be manipulated. So if you want me to take revenge on Emily, I won't do it.
"She's already pregnant. If I go after her, not to mention Michael getting mad at me, what's the point of doing something that harms others without benefiting myself?"
Halfway through, Veda glanced at the now-cold coffee on the table.
Once, when Sophia invited her to this café, she ordered a coffee but didn't touch it. It wasn't to spite anyone; she just never liked cheap coffee.
"Sophia, next time, know your place and don't try to get close to me. Your information is shocking, but it's already in the past for me.
"And I never put sugar in my coffee. If you can't handle the taste of coffee, you shouldn't drink it. It's a waste of good beans." With that, Veda grabbed her bag and left.
Her disdainful look was deeply imprinted in Sophia's mind.
Sophia was filled with resentment but had nowhere to vent it, so she kept it bottled up inside.
Looking at the coffee in front of her, now discolored by sugar, she gritted her teeth, the marks deep in her gums.
Veda said that, but how could she not hate Emily?
But now, she was in charge of Smith Corporation, and many issues had to go through Michael, so it wasn't convenient to cause trouble.
But Daniel was different. This guy, who thought he was above it all, claimed he had no time for relationships, yet secretly slept with Emily.
Veda was now going to confront this jerk and see what he had to say.
With that thought, Veda floored the gas pedal and sped towards Emerald City Harmony Hospital.
Emily had been in a bad mood since her mother's death, and it was only Abigail's persuasion that brought her back home. Seeing this, Daniel felt heartbroken but helpless.
He heard that Roger had been arrested and was going through legal procedures, with news expected to break in a few days.
The overwhelming public opinion would be harsh, and some online comments were particularly crude.
Emily would likely be upset again.
Thinking about this, Daniel lost the mood to work. He took the afternoon off, planning to leave the hospital and make some soup for Emily.noveldrama
After all, what she needed most now was understanding and companionship.
But Daniel never expected that as soon as he reached the parking garage, he would
see Veda sitting in her car, lights off, waiting for him by the elevator, her expression icy.
Daniel was stunned for a moment but decided to approach and greet Veda.
Just as he took a step, Veda floored the gas pedal, and the car sped towards him.
Daniel froze, wanting to dodge, but his mind went blank, and he couldn't move.
As the headlights shone on his face, Veda slammed on the brakes.
She got out of the car and walked straight up to Daniel, slapping him hard across the face, the sound echoing in the garage.
Daniel could guess that Veda had believed the rumors.
She thought Emily's baby was his.
Other than that, Daniel couldn't think of why Veda would suddenly act this way. After
all, he had never given Veda any hope, and she shouldn't have any reason to resent him.
But now, everything had changed with time.
What do you think?
