Chapter 1283 Raymond, You Have No Defense Against Her
Selena's heart raced as she turned toward the voice.
"Raymond, are you okay?" she asked.
Raymond gently pushed her back onto the couch. "I'm fine, just stay still."
Tears streamed down her face. "I'm so sorry, I thought someone was pretending to be you. Everything felt different-the smell, the floor. Was I moved? Did I just come back?"
Her mind was a whirlwind of confusion.
Raymond held her hand, his chest still being stitched up. "Selena, you were just having a nightmare."
Selena's words tumbled out, almost incoherent. "No, I really..."
Victor interrupted, addressing Raymond. "You need to keep that wound dry. Be careful,
man. If that knife had hit your heart, no one could've saved you."
Victor's words made Selena freeze. She had almost killed Raymond. If he hadn't dodged that knife...
Cold sweat broke out on her back, and she suddenly felt unable to speak. But she still had so many questions. Victor had said it would take at least three days for her to speak again, but it had only been one night. How could she talk now?
"Raymond, how can I speak? I..."
She felt like a moth trapped in darkness, crashing around without knowing where the exit was.
Raymond squeezed her hand, trying to calm her down. "You were out for four days with a high fever. It just broke in the last two days. You might still be a bit disoriented. It's okay, I'm fine."
So she had been unconscious for four days, but she didn't feel it at all. "And the incense in the house, why is there suddenly incense?"
"I asked Victor for it. You said you couldn't sleep well. This incense is calming."
But she distinctly felt a different floor than the one in Manston Manor. Her head hurt so much, it was unbearable.
Raymond's wound was already bandaged. He pulled her into his arms. "Did a nightmare scare you?"
Selena's forehead was covered in cold sweat. She didn't know what to say, still feeling guilty for accidentally hurting Raymond.

Alex chimed in from the side. "This time it was an accident. What if it's a fatal mistake next time? I think we should get her a psychologist. Maybe during her time at Christopher's villa, she developed some psychological issues without realizing it. Raymond, it's dangerous for you to be so unguarded around her."
Paul nodded in agreement. "Yeah, get a psychologist. She's not making any sense. We might not be so lucky next time."
Raymond held her tightly, kissing her cheek to comfort her. Selena began to doubt herself, wondering if she had a mental problem. She had moments where she felt like the person talking to her wasn't Raymond, and moments where she felt she was locked up somewhere else.
But this was Manston Manor. She lived under Raymond's watchful eye. He wouldn't let anything happen to her.
Selena clutched Raymond's arm tightly, her voice hoarse. "Maybe I should see a psychologist. Maybe I'm sick."
Raymond hugged her tightly. "You're not sick. You just had a nightmare. Let's not talk about this anymore."
Paul and Alex exchanged disapproving looks. Raymond was really willing to risk his life for Selena.
Selena couldn't see their expressions, so she didn't see Raymond warning them with his eyes.
Paul left Manston Manor feeling frustrated. The Perez family and the White family had been contacting him, probably wanting Raymond to apologize. But seeing Raymond's current state, he had no intention of apologizing.
He got into his car, lit a cigarette, and drove to a hotel.noveldrama
Ann had been trying to contact Selena for the past few days, but someone else always answered the phone. The last time, Raymond answered, saying Selena needed rest and to contact him if there were any urgent matters at the company.
Although Ann didn't think highly of Raymond, hearing his voice reassured her. At least it meant Selena was okay.
After finishing today's reports, she was about to leave the office building when she saw her ex-boyfriend in the lobby.
Brody had married Jessica. The first few days of marriage were indeed comfortable, as Jessica's family was wealthy. Otherwise, he wouldn't have left Ann for her.
But after almost two months, he found out Jessica was secretly flirting with other male celebrities. Brody came from an ordinary family, so even though he knew Jessica was cheating, he didn't dare make a fuss.
The only consolation was that Jessica's father genuinely liked him and got him a high- level position at Sunshine Real Estate Company. He went from a small manager to a high-level executive, which inevitably drew some gossip. Fortunately, his work ability was good, and he quickly established himself.
But he was exhausted. Every day he came home, Jessica would complain about the smell of alcohol on him. If it were Ann, she would have taken off his coat as soon as he walked in, made him some hangover soup, and helped him to bed without him having to worry about anything.
Jessica, used to a wealthy lifestyle, wouldn't serve anyone. She also disliked Brody's mother, always calling her poor and vulgar whenever she visited.
