Reclaiming Her Heart

Chapter 1281 This is the Incense Given to Me by Victor

Raymond raised an eyebrow and had two chairs brought in from outside.

The guards outside already knew that Christopher's alter ego had been kidnapped, so no one dared to act rashly.

Raymond closed the door again and used a chair to smash open the window.

The sound of a helicopter's rotors filled the air, and a ladder was lowered down.

He used a cabinet to barricade the door, preventing the guards outside from coming

in.

"Selena, we're getting out of here," Raymond said, his voice firm.

Selena didn't hesitate and wrapped her arms around his neck.

Raymond left Christopher's alter ego with one last message. "Make sure you report to

Mr. Murray. And thanks for the hospitality these past few days. Selena and I

appreciated the love nest."

Christopher's alter ego sat on the bed, eyes deep in thought.

On the helicopter, Selena couldn't see anything, only feeling herself tightly held in Raymond's arms. The wind was strong, blowing her hair everywhere.

She buried her face in Raymond's chest, only able to hear their heartbeats.

When they arrived at Manston Manor, Raymond had already contacted Victor to come and check on her eyes.

Victor arrived quickly, along with Paul and Alex.noveldrama

None of them said much; it was clear to everyone that Raymond was determined to marry Selena.

Victor examined her and took out his medical kit.

"Neither injury is too severe. Her eyes will recover once the blood clots in her brain clear up. Her throat should heal within a week; it's just too swollen to speak right now. The poison wasn't too strong," Victor said.

His cool fingertips touched Selena's neck briefly before he pulled back, leaving a bottle of medicine.

"Take this. You'll be able to speak in three days and fully recover in a week. But for your eyes, we'll need to wait and see. For now, just take the medicine to alleviate the symptoms," he added.

Hearing that she would recover, Raymond breathed a sigh of relief.

Alex spoke up from the side, "Victor, your medical skills are amazing. Why didn't that research base recruit you back then? You have the same talent as Christopher."

Paul immediately retorted, "What are you talking about? Would you dare to chat with Christopher now?"

Alex instantly fell silent. He really wouldn't dare.

Who knew what kind of maniacs were in that research base? When Alex used to hang out with Christopher, he never felt any pressure from him.

But now, no matter how gently Christopher smiled, Alex always felt like he might pull out a knife and stab him in the heart at any moment.

It was that kind of smile that hid a knife.

Victor took a sip of tea and set the cup down.

"Actually, I'm pretty curious about that research base. What kind of stuff are they working on?" he asked.

Alex laughed. "What kind of stuff? With all those countries fighting over the results, it can't be anything good. And even if they brought you in, would you really experiment on real people? Only the truly crazy ones could do that, treating people like lab rats. Victor, remember when you cried for half a day after killing a rabbit as a kid?"

Victor smirked. "Yeah, but now, I've lost count of how many rabbits I've killed."

"Being a doctor, you don't have much choice. Let's toast to those dead rabbits and lab mice, for the sake of medical progress."

Alex handed Victor a bottle of liquor.

Victor chuckled again.

Paul, uninterested in Alex's antics, idly spun his phone with his fingers.

Meanwhile, Raymond kept his eyes on Selena, constantly asking if her head hurt or if she felt any side effects from the medicine.

Selena shook her head, only saying she was a bit tired.

He carried her upstairs, only saying one thing to the other three. "You guys can go

now."

Selena leaned against him, genuinely feeling exhausted.

Even though they had been at Mario's villa these past few days, Raymond still found opportunities to be intimate with her.

Now, as she was placed on the bed, she suddenly woke up from a nightmare in the middle of the night.

Feeling very hungry, she reached out to the side of the bed but didn't find Raymond.

She wanted to call out but remembered her throat hadn't healed yet.

She had to slowly feel her way down.

This was Manston Manor, and she felt relieved.

As long as Raymond was here, she felt safe.

But tonight, she not only felt hungry but also had a splitting headache, as if she might pass out.

"Raymond?"

She tried calling out and realized she could make a sound.

What was going on? Victor said it would take at least three days for her to speak.

It had only been one night.

"Raymond?"

She stood in the empty hallway and heard the study door open in the distance, followed by his voice.

"Selena, what's wrong?"

She breathed a sigh of relief. "Why are you still up so late?"

Raymond chuckled softly. "It's daytime now."

She felt a bit embarrassed, having forgotten she was blind and couldn't sense the

passage of time, so she didn't know if it was day or night outside.

She smelled a faint scent throughout the mansion.

She frowned and sniffed carefully.

"It's an incense Victor gave me, to help you relax," Raymond said.

This scent was different from what she had smelled at K's place, fresher.
