Chapter 675
The guard eyed her with a smirk, almost like she was a joke. "A real piece of work, aren't you?"
Miranda had been waiting at the entrance for what felt like forever before Nathalie finally showed up. It was as if the sky opened up after a long drought; Miranda practically sprinted over to her. "Nathalie." She always donned that sweet, caring smile whenever she needed something from Nathalie.
But Nathalie's face was as frosty as a winter morning.
Remembering how Miranda had swiped her father's hefty inheritance and treated her so poorly, Nathalie's dislike for Miranda's cold-hearted ways only deepened.
Miranda brushed off Nathalie's icy demeanor. Her thin hand reached for Nathalie's sleeve in desperation. "Nathalie, your sister's sick. You're the only one who can help her now."
Despite the gloom in her heart, Nathalie felt an unexpected thrill. "Sick? With what?" Her voice was oddly upbeat.
"Kidney failure."
Nathalie's stony façade cracked, and genuine joy peeked through.noveldrama
"Ha!" She actually burst out laughing.
Miranda gawked at Nathalie, completely thrown off. This wasn't at all how she imagined things would go.
"Nathalie, your sister's seriously ill. It's terminal. How can you laugh?”
Nathalie stifled her laughter, a wicked grin on her face. "Why shouldn't I laugh?”
Miranda was dumbfounded, slowly letting go of Nathalie's arm.
"Why?"
"Because her kidney failure? That's thanks to me," Nathalie whispered, her words like a devil's whisper in Miranda's ear.
Miranda was shocked, her jaw practically on the floor. "Why would you do that to her? You used to be so kind."
Miranda was baffled.
Nathalie's lovely face twisted with rage as she yelled, "She killed my Nathan. So she deserves it. She deserves it."
Nathalie's hatred scared Miranda to the core.

Not content with just venting, she tried her usual guilt trip. "Nathalie don't forget-you're an orphan. raised you. Is this how you repay me? Where's your conscience?"
Bringing up the past only made things worse; it fueled Nathalie's anger.
Nathalie suddenly went quiet. Yet, behind her calm eyes, wheels were turning.
"If you hadn't mentioned it, I might've let it slide."
"You raised me, sure. But you also abused me, bullied me, guilt-tripped me. How do we even the score?"
Miranda laughed bitterly, "You're

Nathalie nodded, "If you're so right, let's get a second opinion."
She turned to Lizzy, "Take her to Central Hospital."
Lizzy had already figured out Nathalie's plan to have Miranda face her real father, Lincoln. This was going to be quite the showdown. Lizzy chirped, "You got it."
She carefully helped Miranda into the car, wheelchair and all.
Nathalie, not wanting to sit near Miranda, took the passenger seat.
Miranda was panicking. "Where are you taking me?"
"Nathalie, I haven't had breakfast yet."
Nathalie simply popped in her earbuds, drowning out Miranda's complaints.
Miranda looked at Nathalie, trembling. Nathalie's indifference left her feeling utterly hopeless and powerless.
What do you think?
