Chapter 390 Ally

"Besides, going bankrupt isn't enough," Charmaine said, as she turned off the stove, dishing out a plate of
pasta
She added some chili flakes to enhance the aroma.
Then, she handed Sid a spoon. "Give it a try."
The
pasta, with its perfect balance of color, fragrance, and taste, was undeniably tempting. Sid swallowed instinctively, pushing down the lingering doubts in his stomach.
He lifted a chunk of tender beef and pasta into his mouth. The next moment, his eyes lit up. "This is amazing!"
"Wow! Boss, you're giving Sid the special treatment!"
Rex, who had been too slow to grab the food from Micah outside, stormed into the kitchen in a huff. His anger only grew upon seeing the situation.
Rex hurried over, eager to join the feast. "No, I need a bite too, before Micah starts eyeing this!"
Charmaine, having been nudged out of the way, couldn't help but give a thumbs- up. "This is enough to feed six people. If you all manage to finish it, then you're really something!"
Mia peeked her adorable head out from the door, waving her hand. “Boss, is dinner ready? Come out and eat. I saved your portion for you-they won't dare touch it."
Charmaine smiled, "Alright, I'll wash my hands and be right out."
Before leaving, she reminded Sid, "By the way, make sure to warn that middleman. Don't trust Bennett too much. He's good at hiding his true intentions and will use anyone who is useful to him. Be careful not to fall into his trap."
Sid chuckled. "With you looking out for me, even if I get tricked, it wouldn't be so bad."
Charmaine didn't catch the underlying meaning in his words, only shaking her head with a small laugh, not letting it bother her.
The meal really wore Rex out. Micah, of course, took the opportunity to make things difficult for him.
After everyone had eaten, played some games, and had their fill, Rex walked them to the parking garage. Before they left, he made sure to get one last jab in at Micah. "Next time, don't even bother showing up. You're a real pain!”
Micah casually leaned on the steering wheel, looking every bit the cool guy. "Mr. Chapman, don't be so petty. After all, out of all of us, I only know you."
Rex puffed up his chest and glared. "What do you mean, you only know me? You know Boss too, right?"
Micah shrugged innocently. “I'm a grown man; I can't bully a woman, can I? Besides, even if I had nine lives, I wouldn't dare mess up with her."
"Haha, I don't believe you for a second!"

messy house. As he took a break, he glanced at his phone and noticed his mother
had sent another reminder about tomorrow's blind date.
He thought for a moment, then dialed the number of his ally, who had ignored him in the day.
It took a while, but Celeste finally answered.

Rex, impatient, said, "Well, well, you finally picked up your phone. I thought you were going to bail on me!"
Celeste was speechless.
The background noise on her end was chaotic.
Rex, with his sharp ears, caught the sound of a familiar notification and frowned. "Are you at the airport?"
"Yeah, I just flew over eight hours and just arrived in Ledo." Celeste finally noticed Rex's earlier message. "I was up in the air when you contacted me. I didn't see
it."
Rex inhaled a breath of cold air. "Wait, you're not in Eragos-who's going to help me then?"
"What?"
Rex scratched his head in panic, hurriedly explaining about the blind date he was supposed to go on tomorrow. Then, without thinking, he asked, "When are you coming back tomorrow?"
Celeste had no words.
Am I crazy? Just landed after an eight-hour flight, and now you want me to come back tomorrow?
She cursed Rex in her mind for being such a clueless fool.
"Didn't you say that you had relatives who'd be keeping an eye on you? If I go, I'll mess everything up."
The calm Rex from yesterday was now pacing back and forth, his phone clutched in his hand. “What do I do now? You've got to help me out!"
Celeste rolled her eyes. "Why are you so worked up? Even if you play it cool, that girl might not even like you."
Rex countered, "How could she not? I'm charming, good-looking, and practically the best catch in the blind date market. Anyone who meets me should definitely lock me down."
Celeste scoffed, "Exactly, that attitude right there-keep it up, and I guarantee you won't even find a match in all of Eragos."
Even Rex, dense as he was, caught onto Celeste's sarcastic tone. He squinted his eyes. "What do you mean?"
Celeste quickly changed the subject, "Let's leave it for now. I'm waiting for my luggage. Send me the details of the girl you're meeting, and I'll think of a plan for you."
