Mission: From Divorcee to Millionaire

Chapter 884

Selena was completely wiped out, sleeping deeply amidst the sea of papers scattered all around her, practically covering her entirely. Everett quietly placed a glass of milk on the bedside table, his large hand gently brushing over her forehead, tucking stray strands of hair behind her ear. He leaned over a bit, picking up a document to take a peek.

Selena had filled the margins with red-ink scribbles, marking her confusion over the technical jargon and unclear sections. Her notes nearly took over every bit of blank space. Everett couldn't help but chuckle softly as he skimmed through the pages.

For someone like him, seasoned in business, these documents were a breeze. But for Selena, still in the early stages of her career, no amount of talent could make her understand everything overnight. After all, what would be the point of those who spend years honing their skills? Everyone has to carve their path, one step at a time.

Selena was someone who put a lot of stock in relationships. She wasn't hurting for money—the divorce settlement alone could let her live lavishly without a care. And if push came to shove, she still had Everett.

She could easily kick back and enjoy life, just like other wealthy women-catching fashion shows one day, jetting off to exotic places the next. But for Blaine, and to restore the Irwin family's legacy, she was ready to pour her heart and soul into it, no matter how tough it got. It was also a chance for her to chase after her personal dreams and goals.

Honestly, Everett would have loved for his wife to stay home, nurture their family, and enjoy the comforts of being Mrs. Bennett. But... he had learned to respect her choices. Whatever Selena wanted to pursue, he'd stand by her.noveldrama

He bent down, gently scooping Selena into his arms and carried her over to the sofa, carefully laying her down and tucking a blanket around her. He pressed a soft kiss to her lips before heading back to his office.

In the penthouse apartment, the bedroom was dimly lit, with two silhouettes.intertwined in a close embrace. Breanne was turned over by Abraham, her cheek pressed into the pillow. She tried to turn her head, but Abraham held her firmly by the nape, keeping her still.

His voice was low and husky, laden with desire. "Don't turn back, don't make a sound," he commanded.

Breanne froze, her expression bleak. She knew Abraham was once again using her as a stand-in for Selena. Ever since that incident in the hotel suite, when the truth came out, he hadn't bothered to hide his intentions.

Lately, he sought her out frequently. She should have been happy, but the truth was, she loved him, adored him, yet he shamelessly used her as a substitute for another woman. Every time passion took over, it was Selena's name he called.

How could she possibly be happy? She even started to resent her resemblance to Selena. But if it weren't for those similarities, Abraham wouldn't have noticed her back then, wouldn't have rescued her, and she wouldn't be with him

now... What a tragic fate

Breanne dared not resist, silently enduring his invasion, though the sorrow and pain in her eyes were endless. Yet no one cared. When Abraham finished, he got up and headed to the bathroom without a hint of tenderness or affection.

Breanne curled up on the bed like a discarded rag, listening to the sound of running water, biting her lip so hard she couldn't even sob aloud. She was terrified that if she truly annoyed Abraham, he would leave her. But deep down, she knew that day might not be too far off.
