Chapter 1652
Jackson flashed a mysterious smile as he glanced at the photos in his hand. They showed Zoe kneeling in the Larkin family chapel, her knees smeared with bright red blood, sprawled like a wounded animal on the altar.
The patriarch of the Larkin family in the States was indeed a hard man. Hurting his own granddaughter like that showed just how ruthless he could be.
Jackson casually tossed the photos onto the coffee table, stretched out lazily, and leaned back on the sofa, propping up his legs in a relaxed manner.noveldrama
Meanwhile, Jasmine stumbled into Fiona's room and dropped down beside her, quickly drifting off to sleep.
In her half-asleep state, she mumbled, "Fiona, news just came in from the States. They say Zoe's legs were broken, and she's been shipped off to some private clinic abroad. The old man from the Larkin family has completely washed his hands of her, something about disgracing the family."
Fiona's eyes flew open, and she grabbed the already snoozing Jasmine, asking, "Are you sure about this?"
But Jasmine was too deep in sleep to respond, oblivious to Fiona's attempts to wake her.
Quickly, Fiona got out of bed. This situation was definitely more complicated than it seemed.
She went over to her computer and searched for news about the Larkin family in the States. The latest headline caught her eye: Albert Larkin had broken his granddaughter's legs. Zoe was a respected figure in the States; aside from her run-in with Jackson, she held a significant position.
Rumors had long suggested Albert planned to pass the family leadership to Zoe, yet now he'd taken such drastic action against her.
Fiona couldn't believe it. She dug deeper into the location of Zoe's supposed clinic and found it was a secluded facility in North America-a sort of house arrest.
Why would Albert Larkin do something so reckless?
Fiona was baffled.
She stood up, made a phone call, and then headed to the study.
After Fiona left, Jasmine's eyes snapped open, not a hint of sleep left, just a sharp, calculating gleam.
She quickly grabbed her phone, sent off several messages, and then settled back to sleep, satisfied.
The next morning, Fiona woke up in the study to find her phone loaded with new messages. She transferred them to her computer and quickly decrypted the information.
The data was accurate. The person in the North American clinic wasn't Zoe.
Zoe's legs were indeed broken, but she hadn't been taken to a secluded clinic. Instead, she was in a cosmetic surgery facility in Korea. Beyond that, there were no more leads.
Fiona had no idea why Zoe was at a cosmetic surgery center, nor did she care. As long as Zoe stayed out of her way, Fiona was fine with letting it go. After all, Zoe had already paid her dues.
"Fiona, Jackson's here," Jasmine's voice called from the doorway.
Shutting down her computer, Fiona put on a cheerful smile as she headed to the
dining room.
Jackson had brought
breakfast everything Fiona loved.
After they ate, he drove her to school while Jasmine went off to a press conference. With Zoe out of the picture, Jasmine was set for a win.
As Fiona walked into the classroom, whispers and pointing fingers followed her. After the first class, Yvenne, with Sandy leading the way,
approached Fiona's desk, accompanied by three other students.
