Chapter 1651
"Alright, Fiona. Good night."
As soon as the door clicked shut, Fiona crumpled to the floor. Was her carefully concealed secret about to be blown wide open?
She had picked this secluded spot precisely because it was miles away from the Woods family estate-somewhere Jackson would never connect to their family. But her brother's unexpected appearance had thrown her for a loop.
"Jasmine, do you think Jackson has known I've been living here all along?" Fiona asked, glancing up at Jasmine, doubt clouding her eyes. With Jackson's keen instincts, it was hard to believe he hadn't pieced it together.
"And so what if he knows? Your family's well-known; maybe it's better if he's aware. Besides, Jackson seems pretty dependable. It's not a big deal," Jasmine reassured.
Despite Jasmine's comforting words, Fiona's nerves were still rattled. She'd always played the part of the helpless little bunny in front of Jackson. If her true self was revealed, would he still trust her?
"Stop overthinking it. Jackson's seen more of the world than you can imagine. Whatever you're fretting about, he's probably already figured out. Plus, Jackson isn't one to sweat the small stuff. Just keep doing your thing."
Fiona didn't respond, just sighed and headed to the study, grabbing a magazine to toss in front of Jasmine.
"You almost got outdone by the Larkin family at the last event."
Jasmine laughed it off. "That was just dumb luck, nothing more!"
"Zoe probably high-tailed it back to the States with the Larkins. I've got eyes on her there. Let me know if anything pops up. Also, you might want to tweak your style; that youthful vibe doesn't quite suit you."
With that, Fiona turned and retreated to her room.
Meanwhile, Jackson lounged on his couch, studying Fiona's file. This one was a far cry from the previous reports.
Fiona was becoming more fascinating by the second.
Soon enough, Kimberly burst through the villa door. As soon as she heard Fiona lived nearby, she couldn't wait to pop over.
Walking in, she found Jackson with an odd grin, his eyes fixed on the file. She hurried over, snatched it up, and frowned. "Are you snooping on Fiona?"
Her expression shifted as she tossed the file onto the coffee table and gripped his hand firmly. "I don't care about Fiona's past or if she's 'goodenough' for you. I'm telling you don't mess with her. You'll have to answer to me if you'd
"I won't," Jackson said with a small, amused smile, handing the file back to Kimberly. "Go on, take a look."
Kimberly hesitated but soon found herself stunned. The villa was actually Fiona's. Quite the pricey place, and if it was really hers, Fiona sure had a knack for making money.
In that sense, she was a lot like Jackson.
Jackson had bought this villa as his first property.
"Just goes to show Fiona's got skills," Kimberly said, grinning like she'd struck gold. "I should get
going. Here's the scoop you wanted on Zoe and the Larkins in the
States."
She dropped a pile of documents and a USB drive on the table before heading
out.
Jackson furrowed his brow as he
scanned through the intel. Zoe had indeed returned to the States and faced the Larkin family's wrath. Her
legs were broken by the famil
patriarch, and now she was being shipped abroad for treatment.noveldrama
