Chapter 1475
The words were brash, but there was a thread of insecurity woven into the lines. The students in Class Nineteen, being sharp and perceptive, naturally knew what was up with him. They didn't bother giving him any more attention. While Class Nineteen might get into scuffles, the other classes wouldn't dare; if something went sideways, they wouldn't know how to handle it.
Before long, Keaton and Megan strode over, followed by a few others from Class Twelve. A squad of five or six people made their entrance. As Keaton walked into the classroom, Fiona was still hunched over her desk, texting Jackson.
"Some students need to dial down the arrogance. School's for learning, not for playing on your phones," Megan said, throwing Fiona a disapproving glance. Then she turned her attention to Tyler, standing behind Fiona, and waved him over. "Tyler, how'd you snag the top spot this time?"
Talk about stepping out of line! Megan blatantly brushed off Keaton.
"Megan, our homeroom teacher hasn't even chimed in yet. Are you just dying to hog the limelight?" Nash quipped, a teasing edge to his voice.
"Yeah, even our homeroom teacher hasn't said anything, and you're already acting all high and mighty," someone else added.
Keaton looked a bit miffed but kept it under wraps. He was mainly there for Tyler. "Tyler, what's up with these results?"
Keaton kept his tone easygoing, unlike the fiery Megan.
"I did it myself," Tyler replied with sincerity. He had no reason to fib, nor any need
to get into a back-and-forth over something so minor.
"You did it?" Megan chuckled in disbelief. The students of Class Nineteen were something else; even when caught out, they stood their ground. She hadn't seen anyone more shameless than them.
"Do you even know what a function
is? And here you are, just spouting
off," Megan sneered, dripping
disdain, Even if the students of Class Nineteen repeated their studies for a decade, they'd still struggle with the concept of a function.
"Is that how a teacher treats their students, mocking instead of mentoring? Nash, who'd been quiet until then, scoffed. Even though he wasn't Tyler's biggest fan, he loved being part of Class Nineteen. When someone badmouthed them, he had to stand up.
"Exactly! Tyler said he did it himself. There were three proctors watching from all angles during the test. When would he have had time to cheat?”
Besides, Tyler hadn't been around that long. Even if he opened a book right in front of him, he might not even know where to start. But they all realized the same thing. If that's the case, Tyler's first place was totally legit!
Whoa! Breaking news: Class Nineteen's got a genius on their hands!
"Cheating could get you kicked out. What do you think, Keaton?" Megan tossed
the ball into Keaton's court since he was the homeroom teacher.noveldrama
"I didn't cheat, I did it myself," Tyler repeated, cool as a cucumber.
"If you didn't cheat, how could you have snagged first place? If you don't come
clean, we can't do anything for you if you get expelled."
The classroom was abuzz, making it impossible for Fiona to concentrate on her game. She yanked off her headphones just as Megan's words hit her ears. That's when she noticed the two teachers at the front, eyes locked on Tyler. She turned to look at him.
A quick-thinking classmate filled her in on the situation, and Fiona's voice rang out, clear and crisp. "If it's about cheating, that's easy. Just take the test again."
What do you think?
