Chapter 239
Over the past two weeks, Prosper Stitch Group had been swamped with orders from department stores and boutiques. Demand was skyrocketing, leaving the factories with no choice but to work overtime to keep up.
"This isn't my decision to make," Edward said simply. He had always respected Janice's choices.
If she wanted to take on the project, she could. If not, it didn't matter who was asking-she had every right to decline.
Meanwhile, Janice was still in bed when she got a call from Sunny, who told her that the coal tycoon's daughter had personally requested her to crochet two bridal gowns.
"By fall? Two sets?" Janice's legs throbbed with pain, and they shook at the slightest movement.
Propped up against the headboard, she admitted, "I don't think I can make the deadline."
Now that her work was gaining recognition, she knew she should seize every opportunity to create new pieces. Especially since One in a Million Collective had originally been envisioned as a bridal couture line.
"I can do the bride's gown, but I don't have time for the groom's," she said after deciding. "If they're serious about it, they need to pay in full upfront."
"In full?" Sunny asked, confirming her terms.
Janice rubbed her sore legs. "Yes, full payment. Private commissions don't come with installment plans."
"Understood."
After ending the call, Janice noticed a WhatsApp message from Edward. Edward: "Let me know when you're awake. Laura made you some chowder." Janice: "You bastard..."
Last night felt like a storm, and she had been swept up in it, utterly disoriented. Edward's love had come at her like an overwhelming force, each surge of passion lifting her soul to the clouds. Her body, however, couldn't keep up with such indulgence. Her back ached, and she was sore all over.
Edward: "Sorry, I'll be more careful next time. I'll come home early tonight to have dinner with you."
Next time?
He was nothing but an insatiable wolf. Janice didn't want a "next time" for the rest of the month.noveldrama
Setting her phone down, she stood and stretched to relieve the tension in her body.
The moment Laura saw she was awake, she brought over the chowder and the rest of breakfast, carefully placing the food on the dining table.
As Janice sipped on the chowder, she scrolled through Prosper Stitch Group's official Instagram.
The buzz was building. There were over a hundred thousand comments, with most of them demanding the reopening of the custom order window.
The individual pieces weren't that expensive, and any wealthy socialite could afford them.
But in the past year, Prosper Stitch Group had led the charge in the Cruznian traditional fashion movement, igniting a nationwide trend that had flooded the internet.
Among the most notable changes, more and more live streamers had adopted traditional Cruznian attire with many placing large orders. In fact, a significant portion of Prosper Stitch Group's recent influx of orders had come from live stream agencies.
Without a second thought, Janice initiated a quick video meeting on her phone.
"These orders from the live stream agencies must be handled with absolute precision," she instructed. "There's no room for mistakes. Have multiple teams work together. The priority is to fulfill this batch first."
"Understood, Ms. Smith."
"Do you think ten days will be enough?"
Yvonne thought for a moment. "We'll have to work overtime."
"Thank you for your hard work. Once the orders are delivered, the company will issue bonuses."
"Got it, Ms. Smith!"
After the meeting ended, Janice called Yvonne privately.
As soon as Yvonne picked up, she said, "Ms. Smith, I'm heading to the training institute now. The desks and teaching supplies have arrived, and I've scheduled a cleaning service to come tonight. We'll be ready to open tomorrow."
"How many people have signed up?"
"Right now, 894 had my assistant screen the applicants, and they're all people who weren't selected by Prosper Stitch Group. I've also organized them into classes. The more advanced students are in the fast-track class to expedite their training while the others are grouped by skill level into separate classes. We currently have three levels."
Yvonne's thoroughness was impressive.
"Great work," Janice praised.
"It's all thanks to your guidance, Ms. Smith!" Yvonne said with a chuckle. Just then, a thought occurred to her. "I've placed Heidi in the beginner class. Will you be stopping by?"
Janice had never revealed publicly that she was the owner of the training institute. Everyone assumed it was just a partner institution providing talent for Prosper Stitch Group.
"Just have the instructor oversee things," Janice replied. "I'll assign someone to manage the operations."
What do you think?
