Luther's eyes moved upon hearing Pearl's familiar voice. "You're here. Why come to see me? Weren't you planning to go back home?"

Pearl was surprised. "How did you know I was planning to go back?"

Luther gave a small smile, but his expression was strained, and only his lips moved, which looked strange. "I told you, there's nothing I don't know."

Pearl hesitated, then approached him. "Yes, I am going back, and I wanted to tell you that." Luther looked up and leaned back on the couch. "Why? Do you think I would try to stop you?" Pearl scoffed. "Am I wrong to think that?"

"I want to keep you close," Luther said, moving his wrists. "I don't want someone like you becoming my rival."

Pearl wasn't surprised by his words. She knew Luther wanted to keep her close because of her capabilities. Not many people could grow a company like Cerubleu to its current size in just a few years.

Luther had never really known love. After losing his mother at a young age, he never

understood what it truly meant. He believed keeping Pearl close was beneficial, regardless of his feelings.

But Pearl had experienced real love, and she knew what Luther felt was not it. "Don't worry. I'll stay away from your company."

Luther pressed his lips together. "That hurts."

"Luther, I hope one day you'll understand what you truly want. You know very well if you have feelings for me or if you just want to use me."
