The CEO's Empathy Pregnancy Pains

Chapter 348 Caught in the Act

Benjamin left, and the room fell into an instant silence.

Scarlett's face darkened. She hadn't expected the opportunity to come so suddenly. Plans really couldn't keep up with changes!

She quickly stood up, pulled a syringe from her expensive designer bag, and then carefully opened the door to the hospital room. She peeked out, looked around, and then closed the door again.

No one was around. It was lunchtime, and the place was deserted, even the nurses' station was empty.

Scarlett smiled. Her gaze quickly fell on Mason, and her expression lightened a bit. As she walked forward, her eyebrows arched slightly, a flash of cold intent passing through her eyes.

"Mason, you didn't see this coming, did you? In the end, you still ended up in my hands."

"You were so foolish, always trying to oppose me, always trying to control me. But you never thought I would outlast you!"

As she spoke, Scarlett reached the bedside. She was just inches away from Mason, and the needle of the syringe was already dripping liquid.

Drop by drop, it fell onto the white bed sheets, soaking them.

Scarlett bent down slightly, staring into Mason's eyes. She spoke slowly, enunciating each word, "Ever since Michael's father died, I've been hoping you'd follow your son to the grave.

"Who are you to control me? I gave the Smith family two children! What did I do wrong? What's wrong with me hiring male escorts? Am I supposed to be a widow for your son for the rest of my life?

"It's ridiculous! All of you Smiths are ridiculous! You pretentious rich people make me sick, sick to my stomach! You are the best actors in the world, who are you to judge me!"

Scarlett was furious, her expression dark and sinister. Suddenly, she reached out and grabbed Mason's neck, but tears began to fall uncontrollably from her eyes.

The more she cried, the more she couldn't stop, her scalp tingling.

Scarlett let go, her eyes widening, a fierce light flashing in them.

"At least I won't have to put up with the Smith family's crap anymore. You bastard, go

to hell!" Scarlett said viciously, raising the syringe to stab Mason.

Just then, the door burst open, and Michael rushed in, shoving Scarlett aside.

"Are you out of your mind?"

Michael's sudden appearance caught Scarlett off guard.

She panicked, ignoring the pain from the collision, and quickly tried to explain to

Michael. ;"No... no, Michael, listen to me, listen to me."

Before Scarlett could finish, and before Michael could respond, a voice came from the hospital bed.

The voice was hoarse but strong.

To Scarlett's shock, Mason opened his eyes. He actually opened his eyes at this moment!

"You..." Scarlett was stunned, her ears turning red, her mind going blank.

How could it be so coincidental?

Or was Mason awake the whole time, hearing everything, doing it on purpose?

"Grandpa, are you okay?" Michael quickly checked Mason over.

He didn't seem surprised, as if he had known Mason was awake. Scarlett suddenly realized.

This was a setup, a show put on for her!

"Well, you didn't call me out here just to stand around, did you?" Veda said impatiently.

She looked at Emily, arms crossed, eyes downcast. She seemed indifferent, but in reality, she was anxious to hear about Daniel.

Emily could see Veda's genuine feelings for Daniel. But he didn't like her, so what could Emily do?

Sighing, Emily checked her watch. She thought it was time and spoke, "Veda, I don't have much contact with Daniel, so I don't know what he's up to."

Veda found Emily unreasonable. "Then why did you call me?"

Veda had never been particularly polite to Emily. Now, seeing her cause Michael to get hurt, any previous gratitude vanished. Veda felt Emily didn't belong in their family.

To put it bluntly, Emily wasn't good enough for Michael.

So, Veda wasn't going to be nice to her anymore.

It was best to part ways.

With that, Veda turned to leave, but Emily grabbed her.

As they struggled, Benjamin ran over, looking urgent.

"Mrs. Smith! Ms. Smith! Come quickly!"noveldrama

Veda didn't know what was happening, thinking something had happened to Mason, and rushed back.

But Emily asked, "How did it go? Did it work?"

Benjamin's expression was grim. "It worked. Mr. Smith saw it with his own eyes. The room is in chaos now!"

Emily and Veda returned to the hospital room to find Scarlett kneeling on the floor, crying uncontrollably. Her eyes were sunken, nothing like the fierce woman from earlier.

Michael stood by the bed, helping Mason sit up.

Emily could tell that although Michael's face was expressionless, there was a heavy, indescribable weight in his eyes. After all, seeing his own mother try to kill his grandfather wasn't something to be happy about.

Veda, not knowing what had happened, called out to her mother and tried to help Scarlett up, but Michael stopped her. "Leave her be."

"Michael..." Veda looked at Michael, incredulous.

"Didn't you hear me? Let her go." Michael's gaze was firm, his face as hard as iron.

Veda couldn't defy Michael, so she stayed by Scarlett's side, angrily asking Michael, "What happened?"

Mason took a deep breath, looking at Veda, and raised his hand. "Veda, come here."

Veda was surprised that Mason was awake.

He had been unconscious for days, showing no signs of waking, and now he was speaking with such strength.

Veda was confused, but she followed instructions, getting up and sitting by Mason's side.

"Grandpa, you..."
