Chapter 268 No One Waits Forever
Dwight flashed a mysterious grin and handed Allison a small booklet from his coat. "This is from Valencia. She said to give it to you once you uncover the Ellis family's secret and drive them out of the Bishop family. Allison, Valencia believes in you!"
Allison took the leather-wrapped booklet, recognizing her own drawings on it, a pattern Valencia had taught her.
"These are my drawings!" Allison's eyes filled with tears. Dwight stood up and patted her shoulder.
"Inside are Valencia's writings and my investigations over the years. Many parts are true. The Bishop family has a history of loyalty and sacrifice. Valencia donated several pieces to the nation. She was extraordinary, Allison!"
Allison opened the booklet and saw Valencia's handwriting. There were also some small, intricate drawings that almost needed a magnifying glass to see clearly, but Allison could recognize the locations.
Dwight said, "Valencia left something for you in the safe, besides that gemstone. There's a key. Once you open it, everything will become clear."
Allison nodded and carefully put the booklet away. "Dwight, if you liked Kismet so much, why didn't you marry her?"
Dwight glanced at Allison and smiled bitterly. "It doesn't matter how much you like someone. If you're not there during their toughest times, it means nothing. I joined a secretive research group and was gone for ten years. When I came back, she was already married with kids. Allison, no one waits forever."
Allison nodded. It was true, but she still felt sorry for the Ellis family facing prison. Xavier, Kismet's son, was nothing like her.
Dwight said, "Allison, I've never asked you for anything. I don't ask you to spare them, just don't let them die before Kismet. She couldn't bear it."
Allison nodded. Xavier and the others hadn't committed any crimes warranting death, but the scandal would be a heavy blow to Kismet. Everyone involved, except for the minors and Edith, would face trial.
Leaving the school, Allison's phone rang. She glanced at the number, surprised, and answered. "You're back in the country?"
Blair's voice came through. "I'm here to take Yasmin to Zephyria. Do you have time? I'd like to see you."
Allison checked the time. "Where are you? I'll come to you."
Blair, expecting Allison to refuse, was thrilled when she agreed. "I'm at The Bennett Manor. Let's have lunch at home. I'll cook for you."
Blair's unusually good attitude made Allison pause, but she decided to go. She informed Alexander and headed out.
When Alexander heard Allison was going to The Bennett Manor, he frowned, grabbed his coat, and left.
Coming back after half a month, Allison felt a weird sense of unfamiliarity. She had grown up here. Hayden used to play chess under the pergola while she chased butterflies in the garden. Yasmin, too delicate for such games, would only bathe and brush her dolls.

Blair had never liked Allison, thinking she was crude and impolite, always dirty and in trouble, leading to frequent scoldings.
Now, in the dead of winter, the desolate garden made Allison nostalgic.
"Ms. Bennett, you're here!" Jonah came out to greet her. Allison pointed to the pergola. "There used to be a wisteria vine here, Mom's favorite. What happened to it?"noveldrama
Jonah looked over and smiled. "A few years ago, the cold killed it. Mr. Hayden Bennett said to plant a new one because he knew you liked it."
Allison smiled, hands in her pockets, and hunched her shoulders. "How's Hayden?"
Jonah hesitated before answering. "Mr. Hayden Bennett's health isn't good. He can't come back for the holidays. I plan to go abroad to be with him after seeing off Ms. Yasmin Bennett and Mrs. Bennett."
"And Jasper?" Allison felt even more distant at the mention of Jasper. He had never paid much attention to her, always looking at her indifferently.
"Mr. Jasper Bennett is still at the company. The shipping project isn't very profitable, but it's enough to get by. Mr. Hayden Bennett has ordered that he can't use a penny from the Bennett Group. Everything will belong to you."

Allison smiled. Hayden still favored Jasper, even neglecting Preston for him.
Allison said, "Jasper is the true blood of the Bishop family. Tell Hayden that the Bennett Group will be waiting for Cade to claim it."
Jonah's eyes brightened, and he teared up. "Ms. Bennett, you've been through so much!"
Allison looked up at the clear sky, grateful for the sunny day. "Valencia always said that enduring hardships is the only way to achieve greatness. The Bishop family has no cowards. I believe Cade will come back for me one day."
With that, Allison turned and went inside. Yasmin was sitting on the couch. Seeing Allison, she stood up. "Allison, you're back!"
Yasmin smiled, her young face contrasting with her large belly, making Allison feel a pang of sadness.
Allison said, "You look much better. How much weight have you gained?"
Yasmin quickly handed over her prenatal check-up report. Allison reviewed it, still frowning. "You need to keep up with your nutrition. To ensure the safety of you and the babies, you must stay healthy. If you encounter any issues in Zephyria, call me. I know a doctor there, and I'll inform him."
Yasmin nodded, tears silently falling. "Allison, you're amazing, much better than me. I was narrow-minded, thinking that keeping you away from the Bennett family would prevent you from taking Dad, Mom, and Grandpa's love. I'm sorry, Allison. I was wrong!"
