Regretting the Wife He Threw Away

Chapter 641

Briony squeezed her eyes shut as her body plummeted—

Almost in the same instant, two figures lunged toward her-

The next moment, a strong hand clamped around her wrist, yanking her back from the brink. The sensation of falling stopped so abruptly it left her breathless.

She opened her eyes. A man's sharp, dark gaze was fixed on her, the corners rimmed red with desperation.

Briony's pupils contracted. "You-you're insane..."

Stewart, dressed head to toe in black tactical gear, gripped her slender wrist so tightly the veins bulged at his temple. "Bryn, quick-grab my arm with your other hand. Hurry!"

She shook her head, panic rising in her chest. "Let go of me! Ferdinand, he "

Before she could finish, Stewart grunted in pain.

A knife had slashed into the arm he used to hold her. But even then, Stewart's hand never loosened.

Ferdinand crouched beside Stewart, a military knife gleaming in his grip.

"So it's you..." he sneered, voice cold as the grave. "My dear brother. You actually survived."

Stewart's face twisted in agony. "Ferdinand, do whatever you want to me, but Bryn is innocent. She doesn't deserve to die like this. I'm begging you let her go!"

Ferdinand let out a mocking laugh. "She'd rather die than marry me. I can't say I'm not disappointed."

"She saved your life, Ferdinand! Let her go, I'll do anything you want—"

"Stewart, don't!" Briony cried out, voice cracking. "I'm sick, I don't have much time left anyway... Let go. Ferdinand's lost his mind. He won't listen to reason—"

"At least Bryn understands me."

With a vicious swing, Ferdinand plunged the knife into Stewart's arm again.

Blood spattered across Briony's face.

Stewart roared in pain, but still refused to let go.

"Let me go, Stewart..." Briony met his eyes, tears streaming down her cheeks.

"You have to live. Our children can't lose their father too..."

"I won't let go." Stewart's breath came in ragged gasps, his eyes bloodshot from the pain, but his grip stayed firm. "Bryn, I'm going to bring you home. I promise..."

"How touching!" Ferdinand's laughter echoed, cruel and wild, as he drove the

blade into Stewart's arm a third time.

Stewart howled. This time, even as he clenched his teeth and summoned every ounce of strength, his grip began to falter.

He could feel Briony slipping-

children-think of Nina and Mario-"

Briony sobbed, nearly choking on her own breath. "Stewart, I—I can't. I don't have

the strength anymore. If this keeps up, we'll both die here..."

"Nina and Mario are waiting for you at home, Bryn. Hang on, please—just a little longer..."

Stewart's face was a blur of rain and tears, blood streaming down his arm where he clung to her. His lips were turning blue from pain and exhaustion.

"What a touching family reunion," Ferdinand jeered, tracing the knife along Stewart's throat. "Funny. saw your car go up in flames. I was you were dead, Stewart. How did you survive?"

Stewart's eyes never left Briony. He had no strength left for Ferdinand's taunts. Ferdinand had lost his grip on sanity. Now, he just wanted to watch Stewart suffer.

Briony realized she couldn't make Stewart let go.

"Ferdinand..." She turned to him, desperate. "Let Stewart go. I'll go with you. I'll do whatever you want-just let him go—"

"Too late." Ferdinand's laughter was manic. "Bryn, as long as Stewart's alive, you'll never really be mine. He's always in my way, always taking what's mine!"noveldrama

"If you two are so devoted, I suppose I'll help you send you both down together.

At least you'll have company on the other side."

His voice turned cold as death. "But Stewart won't die easily. I want to see how long that hand of his can hold out—"
