Rebirth 38
Chapter 38
That afternoon, after putting up the promotional posters, registration numbers surged even higher. While Sarah was busy coordinating with student volunteers, an unwelcome visitor appeared at the registration booth.
"Psychology Competition? They actually put that tramp Sarah in charge this year?" Lucy Chancer glared at Sarah's name on the poster, her eyes filled with venom.
Her sidekick Lindsey nodded in agreement. "Exactly! How irresponsible of the university to hand over such an important annual event to a newbie like her. And she's so full of herself - why does her name need to be plastered all over the poster?"
Sarah hadn't known about her name on the poster - that was Mia's doing. The young girl had specifically instructed the design team to make Sarah's name prominent.
Lucy scoffed, ignoring Lindsey's comments.
Looking at the poster, she suddenly smirked and beckoned to Lindsey. "Come on, let's sign up. This could be fun."
At the registration booth, a haughty voice suddenly rang out: "I want to register!"
Sarah, who had been casually chatting with Mia while collecting registration forms, frowned at the arrogant tone. Looking up, she wasn't surprised to see Lucy's disdainful face.
Lucy's expression was clearly confrontational. Sarah lowered her eyes, maintaining her composure as she glanced at the registration form. "You need to fill in your major, class, and contact information completely. Forms with just names will be automatically rejected."
"You!" Lucy hadn't expected such a composed response and grew angry, "You're doing this on purpose! Don't you already know my details?"
Mia noticed Lucy harassing Sarah and frowned, about to speak up when Sarah responded coolly: "If you want to act like a spoiled child, go home. I'm not your mother."noveldrama
"Pfft!" Mia couldn't help but laugh.
"Sarah!" Lucy exploded in rage, grabbing the edge of the table, ready to flip it.
"If you dare overturn our booth today, I guarantee you'll be expelled tomorrow," Mia's voice cut in.
The young girl's face maintained its smile, but her words carried unmistakable authority.
The Reynolds family believed in being magnanimous - petty revenge wouldn't have built their empire. Her grandfather had always taught her to avoid trouble but never fear it. She could ignore Lucy's antics as long as they didn't cross her boundaries or hurt Sarah, but flipping their booth would be different. Then she'd have an excuse to tell her grandfather about Lucy's provocations, and dealing with Lucy would take mere minutes.
Lucy's hand trembled on the tablecloth she'd started to pull, but she forced herself to let go.
Even she wasn't foolish enough to risk expulsion, especially by the Reynolds family's order. No university, domestic or international, would dare accept her afterward. It would not only destroy her future but likely earn her brother's wrath as well.
Sarah observed Lucy's retreat with contempt.
Lucy turned to Mia, suddenly forcing a smile,
She pushed aside a student about to register with Mia and plopped herself down instead, her tone suddenly sweet: "Oh Mia, I'm so sorry! I didn't see you there."
Mia remained unmoved by her attempt at friendliness, rolling her eyes dramatically. "If you're not here to register, go play in the sandbox or something."
What do you think?
