Chapter 292
Nadine followed Brad into the bedroom. As her feet touched the soft carpet, her anger began to ease slightly.
Brad walked over to the bedside table, opened the drawer, and took out an elegant gift box. He handed it to Nadine with a serious expression. "I know you didn't like the birthday gift I gave you earlier," he said. "So, I picked something else for you. Take a look. If you don't like it, I can exchange it."
Earlier that morning, Brad had tried to make amends by giving Nadine a set of emerald jewelry. However, she refused to accept it and threw it back to her bodyguard. When the bodyguard returned the multi-million-dollar emerald set, Brad realized how indifferent Nadine was to money.
Since she didn't like emeralds, he bought her a platinum necklace with a large pink diamond pendant. Following Alex's advice that women loved sparkling things, he chose the most dazzling pink diamond he could find.
Nadine didn't want to accept the gift, but before she could say anything, Brad had pushed the box into her hands. He looked at her sincerely and said, "Nadine, I'm really sorry about this morning. This necklace is my belated birthday gift to you. I know it's a bit late, but it's a small token of my sincerity."
Brad's grand gesture and his condescending gaze made Nadine feel like she was a mere peasant being handed a reward from royalty. It seemed as if he was flaunting his superiority, as though the old ways of hierarchy still applied.
She held the elegant gift box but had no intention of opening it. Instead, she pushed it back toward Brad and said, "No, thank you. I don't need this. You should keep it for Ms. Sawyer. Besides, we're about to get divorced, so it's not appropriate for you to give me a necklace."
Brad's gift was undoubtedly expensive and high-quality, but Nadine had no interest in accepting it. She felt content knowing that he was making an effort to apologize.
After all, Brad was a powerful figure who could make a significant impact on Janctera City. She wasn't in a position to provoke him any further.
Though the elegant gift box
remained in front of him, Brad didn't even glance at it. His gaze stayed
fixed on Nadine, trying to read something from her calm
expression.
Nadine was so composed that she didn't even bother to open the box.
Brad felt a pang of disappointment seeing his carefully chosen gift being ignored. He didn't want to appear slighted, so he snatched the
box from her and tossed it back into
the drawer of the bedside table.noveldrama
With a dismissive snort, he sneered, "You're so out of touch. You really have no idea how valuable this is, do you?"
He added, "Let me tell you, even ten of you wouldn't match its value."
Nadine rolled her eyes in response and retorted, "Yeah, yeah, you're right. You're
the king of the world, so everything you say must be true, right?"
After a brief pause, she added, "Since I'm just a simple country bumpkin who can't meet your standards, you can do your own back rubbing!"
"Oh, and wait a minute," she said,
walking over to her nightstand. She pulled out a business card and handed it to Brad. "This is the best psychiatric clinic in Janctera City. I've arranged for you to see their foremost specialist. Maybe you should take some time to get checked out."
