"The first rule of the family," Rex read aloud, "is to maintain a good reputation and self-respect. Women should know their place, follow their duties, avoid entertainment venues, and be home by 9 PM. They should also be well-versed in the classics and pursue noble hobbies, remaining pure and beautiful.
"The second rule," he continued, "is to maintain the good virtues of thrift and simplicity. When traveling, one should adopt low-carbon and environmentally friendly methods while also staying active. Unless it's for work, if the distance is within three miles, one should walk; for longer distances, one may apply for a car, but must explain the reason to elders. In cases of bad weather or pregnancy, exceptions may apply."
Oriel listened with growing frustration. Her face, once full of pride and self- indulgence, quickly darkened.
She glanced at the PowerPoint slide, which emphasized the main points in various colors, and for a moment, she almost passed out from disbelief.
Meanwhile, Lorelei was happily filming a short video with her phone, which she sent to Raelyn.
She was facing Rex, capturing his courteous and polite side from this angle. Lorelei looked pleased and said, "I think this will definitely work out. Ms. Steel seems quite impressed with Rex. I believe you'll soon have a daughter-in-law." Raelyn, who had been waiting for news about the match, opened the video and nodded approvingly.
It seemed Rex had matured quite a bit during his time away.
While the two women were imagining the ideal picture of young love blossoming,
the atmosphere between Rex and Oriel was far from pleasant.
Oriel endured her anger as she finished reading all ten family rules. Her composed demeanor beneath her flawless makeup was slowly cracking under her rage.
She gritted her teeth and spoke in a low voice, "Rex, are you joking with me?"
Rex feigned innocence. "Do you think I'm lying, Ms. Steel? How could I? These family rules have been passed down for generations. If you want to marry into my family, you must follow these rules."
He then pulled up a health tracking app on his phone. "Ms. Steel, look. Monday through Thursday, I'm at the office. On Friday, I go out to buy clothes for today's meeting with you, walking three miles to the store. Even today, I walked to meet you ahead of time."
Rex added with apparent sincerity, "Walking is really good for health, both physically and mentally."
Oriel sneered. "Forget it. Your family is far too much for me to handle."
Rex looked surprised. "But didn't you just say we're a worthy match? What about our collaboration?"
"Forget it!" Oriel decisively refused, her body radiating disdain and pity.
"Forget I ever said those things. I'll tell my family I'm not interested. And as for you, don't feel bad. I'm paying for this meal, but your family's rule number eight, limiting pocket money and demanding receipts for reimbursements, is too much. I don't want to go to a bar and end up having to ask for a receipt when get a male model to entertain me."

It would be a nightmare.
Rex, looking defeated, sighed. “Alright then, I finally met someone I could connect with, and now...

sigh!"
Throughout the meal, Rex maintained his gentlemanly manners. If it weren't for his good looks, Oriel would have been too disgusted to eat.
She considered it nothing more than paying for a pretty boy to accompany her for a meal.
Once the dinner ended, Oriel tossed a stack of cash on the table, put on her sunglasses, and left without a second thought.
Rex calmly tucked the money into his pocket and called the waiter for the bill.
Lorelei rushed over with concern. "Why is she leaving right after dinner? Shouldn't you two go for a movie or a walk?"
Seeing the older woman still reluctant to end things, Rex flashed a polite, charming smile. "Ms. Steel has work tomorrow, so she can't stay too late."
"Ah, I see. Well, that's fine. Next time, we'll set a better time to get to know each other more," Lorelei replied, unaware of the tension in the air.
Rex let out a quiet snort.
Next time?
He found a quick excuse to leave. Before he could drive away, he heard Lorelei sending a voice message to his mom, praising him endlessly.
Rex waited until he was in the parking lot and in his car before bursting into laughter.
God knows, he had been holding it in all night.
He laughed so hard he collapsed in his seat, couldn't straighten his back, still chuckling as he reached for his phone to call Celeste.
When Celeste picked up, she sounded completely frantic, "Dude! Do you realize what time it is? I'm 16 hours behind you! It's already 4 AM here!”
Rex cleared his throat, trying to suppress his amusement. "Sorry, I forgot about the time difference. I just wanted to share the news with you right away." He couldn't help but snort proudly. "That plan of yours really worked wonders!"
