Chapter 0939
"When I turned 18, my mom's trust fund was released. But my dad... well, we fought about it, and in the end, he took the money from me. He said he'd return every cent if I came back and studied medicine."
"So, you're basically rich?"
"Not exactly. I have money, but right now, I survive off the few hundred in my pocket. Just enough to make it through the month."
"It's crazy that you're working when you have an inheritance."
"I don't really care about that. I'm happy living the way I do. I don't have to pretend to be someone I'm not."
"Are you on a scholarship at the university?"
"Yep! But I like earning my own money, so I work at the café in the afternoons. It was either that or working at a pub at night. The tips there are great, but it's too far, and I wouldn't make it home before curfew."
"Wow... I never would've guessed you came from money. And I definitely didn't expect you to be here alone, in a country so far from everything."
"Well, I wanted to get as far away as possible. If it were up to me, I'd have gone to Russia. But my dad would've found me more easily there. Anyway, I've shared my life story-now it's your turn."
"What do you want to know?" "Everything."
"Well... I came here because it was the farthest place I could go to get away from my sister's husband. Like I told you, he's a judge—and a massive pain in the ass. He's not a bad guy, but he takes his 'big brother' role way too seriously. He made a promise to my mother to protect me, and now he's doing just that. But honestly, it's annoying."
"Why?"
"He watches me all the time. Before all this, I was a stockbroker. I wasn't the best, but I did well enough. Then things got complicated, and I had to leave." "Complicated how?"
"My mom got sick. I lost contact with my family. I did things I regret. But I can't go back now—not after putting my siblings in danger."
"You make it sound like something out of a novel," Amanda said, intrigued.
"Well... it feels like one," Sebastian admitted. "My life hasn't been easy. For years, my grandparents controlled me like a puppet. Now that I'm free, I honestly don't know what to do with myself."
"Then live!" Amanda exclaimed. "Sebastian Sinclair, just look at where you live! Look around! Do you know how many guys would kill to be in your position? And here you are, feeling sorry for yourself because you 'don't know what to do..."
That night, they kept talking about everything and nothing. Amanda was far more extroverted than
elnet
Sebastian had expected. He had assumed she was quiet and
reserved, but she was the complete opposite-loud, blunt, and full of life.
He had to admit he found her intriguing.
Neither of them slept. They spent the whole night catching up on life, talking about
their pasts, their future plans. At first, Sebastian hesitated to open up, but
eventually, he let down his guard.
She encouraged him to reach out to his sister. He confessed that he knew Laura
he was dyind a daughter and that
to meet her. It hurt him
that he hadn't been there to protect her from the kind of man who had fathered her child. It hurt him that he couldn't be a real uncle to his niece. It hurt him to be away from his siblings. But above all, he hated that he had once been on Leonardo's side.
Hours passed as they talked. Eventually, Sebastian glanced at the window and realized the sun was rising.
"Hey... I think it's time to go to class," he said, looking at Amanda, who was now barely keeping her eyes open.
"You go... Have mercy on this poor soul," she groaned, curling up on the couch. "I have to work in a few hours, and the only thing I've rested is my feet..."
Sebastian stared at her for a moment, feeling something strange stir inside him.
Without thinking twice, he grabbed a blanket, draped it over her, and then headed to the bathroom for a quick shower.noveldrama
When he came out, Amanda was fast asleep.
He hesitated for a moment before walking over, carefully picking her up, and carrying her to his bedroom.
He laid her down gently, tucked her in, and left for class-leaving her to rest in his
bed.
