Chapter 1026: Who Is Your Favorite Disciple?
Master Tam didn't entirely agree. "It's possible to imagine, but unrealistic," he said.
"To this day, no magic or technique exists that allows someone to live for such a long time, let alone preserve the youthful appearance of their face and bone structure. It's just not possible."
Tina was about to ask more questions when Damon and Paula's grandfather, Grayson, appeared behind her, holding a glass of wine. "Master Tam, on a day like this, we must toast to you. The children's marriage is all thanks to you!"
Master Tam's sharp gaze softened instantly. He turned with a warm smile. "You're too kind. They're like family to me-it's only natural to help."
With those words, the bond between the two families grew closer.
Damon cast a smug glance at Grayson White beside him.
Hmph, weren't they just at odds on stage earlier?
Who uses bombs as a wedding gift? When the big day arrives, will the White family bring a national bomber to park in their backyard as decoration? He could actually imagine that happening.
It's just to showcase how much the White family has contributed to the nation. So what if they have military achievements?
Over the years, the Cohen family has donated a fortune to the country, both publicly and privately, especially in research. His son, without fail, donates a third of his earnings every year. It's practically a family rule by now.
Sure, the two families have chosen different paths, but who can say they don't both have a sincere heart for their country?
Oh, so the White family's weapon research is a contribution, but his money isn't? Without the money, what would they research with?
Grayson White wasn't about to back down either. He glared at Damon before stepping forward with his glass of wine. "Master, the wedding date is set for next spring. What do you think? Is there any significance to it?"
Three old foxes were gathered together, each knowing exactly what the others were plotting.
Master Tam's eyelid twitched; he had no intention of falling into this trap.
He had already chosen Hayden's wedding date carefully. Did they really think he wasn't aware of all the potential complications?
But then he thought about the treasure he had taken from the White family that day. Maybe he could pretend to be drunk now...
Tina, overhearing all this, couldn't help but laugh.
When you take someone's gift, you owe them a favor. Master must be feeling the weight of that now.
Seeing no way to avoid the issue, Master Tam had to improvise. "Well, spring weddings do have some taboos. If you can avoid it, it's best. If not, you might have to postpone the date."
Grayson White spread his hands and replied bluntly, "Then we'll have to delay it."
Damon froze, almost dropping his glass in panic. "No, no, the date has already been set. It can only be moved earlier, not later. Postponing is absolutely out of the question!"
Grayson White shrugged. "It's the master's advice, not mine!
"And besides, who would want to send their daughter off to another family right before the New Year? On New Year's Eve, you'll have a happy family, but I'll be left all alone. She's my only granddaughter-if she's gone, who am I supposed to spend the holiday with?"
"You..."
For the first time, Damon found himself at a loss for words. Frustrated, he turned to Master Tam. "Master, is there a way to resolve this?"
Master Tam stroked his beard thoughtfully. "There is, but it's a bit troublesome."
"No matter how troublesome, we'll do it!" Damon exclaimed. His grandson's wedding was not something to be delayed. He was already looking forward to holding a great- grandchild next year.
Master Tam's eyes glinted mischievously. "It's quite simple. All you need to do is have the groom's family make a complete set of clothes, including shoes, for each member of the bride's family. That should resolve the issue."
"Make clothes?"
Damon glanced at Grayson White, who looked perfectly calm, and frowned. "Can't we just buy them?"
Grayson White sneered. "Are you questioning the master's words? Do you even want this wedding to go ahead?"
Master Tam nodded solemnly. "Indeed. This must not be done half-heartedly. The groom's family elders must personally visit the bride's family to take everyone's measurements, including shoe sizes. Then, an elder over the age of eighty must cut the fabric themselves to ensure the blessings are properly conveyed."
Damon gritted his teeth. "Fine, then it's settled."noveldrama
Grayson White's eyes gleamed briefly. Let's see who outmaneuvers whom.
Just as he was about to leave, Damon's gaze landed on the other people at the table. Counting them, there were exactly eight. He suddenly grinned. "Master, I assume these are your other disciples. Each one looks extraordinary. It's truly humbling that you consider our Hayden your favorite pupil."

The people at the table froze.
Who said that?!
Even if they were blind, they wouldn't spout such nonsense.
Their master's favorite disciple was Serena, no question about it. After her, it should be
any one of them. How could it possibly be Hayden, the crybaby?
Master Tam groaned. "Oh dear, this wine is really hitting me... I feel so dizzy..."
Tina was speechless.
Not wanting to stick around, she stood up and said, "Uncle, I'm full. Shall we go for a walk?"
Jared smiled. "Sure."
They briefly greeted Damon and Grayson White before leaving early.
Damon and Grayson White, noticing the direction of the conversation, quickly exchanged polite words and wandered off with their wine glasses, their movements eerily synchronized, as if they had been copy-pasted.
Before leaving, Tina instructed the others to keep an eye on Master Tam, ensuring he didn't "drink" himself into forgetting his way home.
The others agreed eagerly, but as soon as Tina left, they surrounded Master Tam.
"Master, stop pretending. Just tell us-who is your favorite disciple?"
"Yeah, Master. Aside from Serena, we've been here the longest. How did Hayden suddenly become your favorite?"
"No wonder you're willing to wear such ugly clothes. You've been thinking about Hayden all along!"
"If you don't explain this clearly today, we won't let it go!"
Meanwhile, outside, Tina had just taken a deep breath when she saw Jared waiting for Zane Cohen to finish his goodbyes.

Her phone buzzed in her pocket. It was Courtney.
Answering the call, she immediately heard Courtney's panting voice. "Tina, I must be seeing things. This can't be real..."
Tina frowned. Courtney was usually calm and composed. It was rare to hear such emotion from her.
"What's wrong?"
Courtney sounded flustered. "I have something urgent to deal with. I'll call you back later."
The call ended abruptly.
When Tina tried calling back, no one answered.
Jared approached as she stared at her phone. Noticing her expression, he asked,
"What's wrong? Did something happen with Courtney?"
Tina explained the situation and recounted the phone call.
Jared's expression darkened. He pulled out his own phone and made a call.
Moments later, he received a report.
"She doesn't have any assignments at the moment. Her research institute confirmed that she requested a one-week leave this morning, but the reason is unclear."
"A week's leave?"
Tina's unease deepened. Courtney wasn't the type to request unexplained absences, let alone for an entire week.
Jared's eyes narrowed. "Should we send someone to follow her?"
Tina shook her head slightly. "Not yet. Courtney is capable of taking care of herself. If
we intervene, we might disrupt her investigation."
She glanced again at her phone, her voice calm but thoughtful. "If she called me, it means the person she encountered wasn't too dangerous. Maybe she mistook them for someone else she thought impossible to meet."
What do you think?
