Chapter 1490
"Dr. Fiona, we're thrilled to have you at the clinic today. Some of our other doctors are eager to pick your brain on a few medical matters," the director hurriedly
explained.
But Fiona wasn't having any of it-lunchtime was her sacred time, and she wasn't going to miss it.
"Just leave him as he is for now. I'll be back to handle things and get him sorted. If you're feeling peckish, go grab a bite yourself," she said, swiftly tapping out a message on her phone. Shooting a glance at the director, she added, "We agreed I'd be here once a week, like clocking in and out. You can't take away my lunch break."
With that, Fiona zipped out the door, vanishing in the blink of an eye.
Left with no option, Christina stayed with Allen, and the director had to patiently explain the situation to the other doctors.
...
Once she stepped out of the hospital, Fiona made her way to a nearby Italian restaurant as planned. A server stopped her at the entrance.
"Are you Ms. Fiona?" the server asked with a polite smile. "Mr. Woods is already waiting for you in the private room. Let me show you the way."
"Thanks," Fiona replied, following the server.
Soon, she found herself in Jackson's private dining room. This time it was just the two of them, without Nash's haughty presence. Fiona closed the door behind her and playfully called out, "Hey, big brother~"
Jackson's face broke into a broad smile when he saw her. He gestured for her to come closer, his eyes twinkling with affection. "Come here."
"Look what I brought you," Fiona said, reaching into her pocket to reveal a small, beautifully colored pendant. Its jade-like quality shimmered under the light, adorned with an intricate design.
As she opened her palm with a bright smile, Jackson took the pendant and revealed an amber-colored one from his pocket, featuring a matching design.
They exchanged knowing smiles, realizing they had both brought matching gifts for each other.
"Do you like your gift?" Fiona asked, looking up as she moved to fasten it around Jackson's neck.noveldrama
"Absolutely," Jackson replied, his eyes full of warmth as he touched the pendant. "Anything from you is special to me."
That shared understanding was a wonderful feeling.
"What do you feel like eating?" Jackson asked, placing a tablet in front of her with the menu open. He pointed to a couple of dishes. "I've already ordered your favorite pepper steak and spicy prawns. See if
there's anything else you'd like."
Fiona browsed through the menu, adding a few more dishes before setting the tablet aside.
In no time the server began bringing their orders. Fiona had thoughtfully chosen some of Jackson's favorites too, both of them considering each other's tastes.
Half an hour later, the table was nearly cleared. Jackson noticed Fiona still had
the prawns he'd peeled for her and chuckled softly.
"Take your time, no one's rushing
you," he said, setting down his chopsticks and pouring her a glass of coconut water. "When you're finished, I'll take you back too campus."
"No class today, remember? I have to be at the hospital for my shift this afternoon," Fiona reminded him.
Jackson nodded after a moment's thought. "After we finish, I'll walk you to the hospital. It's close by, and we'll burn off some of the meal."
Fiona didn't object and finished the last prawn in her bowl.
"Got any plans for the afternoon? I'm craving some fondue tonight," she said with a smile.
What do you think?
