Bride To Be Not Me (Janice and Simon)

Chapter 192

A surge of impulse rushed to her head, but Amelia forced herself to hold it back. She wasn't here to argue with Simon-she needed to stay alive.

With a gentle smile and a pitiful expression, she said, "I came to apologize. I've caused you so much trouble, and I'm truly sorry. I'm leaving soon, so I wanted to have a meal with you."

Amelia knew Simon could never resist a woman who showed submission.

Sure enough, his expression shifted. A moment ago, his eyes had been filled with disgust. Now, his tone softened. "It's good that you've realized your mistakes."

"I heard from Ms. Appleton that you're going to the international crochet competition. I've never attended it before. Could I come along? Afterward, I'll treat you to a meal, and then I'll leave. We've known each other a long time, and you've helped me so much." Her voice was tinged with sorrow.

The thought of her being alone and sick stirred Simon's shallow sense of pity. He had a habit of inflating his own importance through small, self-serving acts of kindness.

"Come in and sit for a while. I'll go get ready," he said.

Elsie looked like she wanted to say something, but Simon had already left.

Amelia stepped into the living room and took a seat. Out of the corner of her eye, she caught Elsie glaring at her like she was a thief.

Amelia smiled. "That's unnecessary. If you want to be Mrs. Fitzgerald, go ahead. I'm just here to treat Simon to a meal. But I didn't expect your ambitions to be this grand. You've had your eyes on him from the start, haven't you?"

Elsie looked a little uncomfortable after her scheme was exposed. "I just want to support him. He's been through so much. I'm not after his status or wealth, unlike you and Janice. So, spare me the lecture."

Not after status or wealth? That only mattered if Simon had any to begin with.

After what happened to Janice and everything Amelia had been through herself, she was certain Elsie would end up with nothing but abuse and accusations. Yet Elsie still clung to her little fantasy. She was just a conniving little vulture.

A flicker of darkness crossed Amelia's eyes, but her lashes hid it before Elsie could see.

Elsie sat down with a glass of water and said, "Don't worry, Ms. Burnett. I've learned from your and Janice's mistakes. I won't be making them."

Amelia only smiled and said nothing.

After waiting more than an hour, Simon was finally ready. Elsie had also changed,

and the three of them headed out together.noveldrama

"Did you get the tickets?" Simon asked.

"I just bought them," Amelia replied. "We're on the 1:30 pm flight, right?"

"Yes."

Elsie quickly looped her arm through Simon's. She deliberately spoke to him to keep him from talking too much with Amelia.

Once they got in the car, Amelia took the last row while Elsie and Simon sat in the middle row of the business car.

As they laughed and talked, Amelia gazed out the window. "I remember us building a snowman outside your house when we were kids."

Simon thought for a moment, then nodded. "Yeah."

Janice had been there too-but not Elsie.

Elsie glared at Amelia and deliberately asked, "Ms. Burnett, are you sure you're fit to fly?"

Simon frowned.

Amelia smiled gently. "It's fine. I've

stopped my medication, and I've

given up. Life has been too

exhausting. I just want to watch the competition with Simon. Then, I can rest easy."

She had given up? Even if she had given up on treatment, she was still thinking of him.

Simon was visibly moved. "You..."

"You don't need to say anything, Simon. I understand. I deceived you, and I deserve this. As long as you're happy, I have no regrets."

The more Amelia spoke like this, the more Simon's heart softened. He thrived on having women revolve around him and utterly devoted to him alone.

Simon tilted his head. "Are you feeling unwell?"

"No. I'm fine," she replied.

When they arrived at the

international airport, they boarded the plane. Amelia took an aisle seat on the right while Simon and Elsie sat behind her.

As soon as the plane took off, she closed her eyes and fell asleep. Anyone who

saw her would assume she wasn't feeling well.

Simon glanced at her at least five times during the flight. Elsie, visibly irritated, couldn't do anything to stop him.
