Chapter 1480
After getting off the horse, Victoria glanced at Trevor, as if to say, "See. It's as expected."
Right then, Wyatt had returned with Waverly. Waverly's legs were soft, the contents in her chest overturned and tumbled, surging her with the urge to vomit. Pounding her chest, she was almost driven mad.
"Cough cough."
Patting her on the back, Wyatt couldn't help but chuckle. "Haha!"
How could he be in the mood to laugh?
Raising his hand, Waverly pushed him hard. With her weak strength, however, not
only did she fail to budge him an inch, but she also staggered backward as a result of the momentum. Holding out to catch her, the smile on Wyatt's lips widened.
"You' re still trying to flaunt your superiority, aren't you?"
"You... You did it on purpose! Cough, cough..."
Waverly's face altered between different extremes. Before she could swing her fist at Wyatt, a chuckle came from the side. It was then she was reminded of the couple beside her as she pushed Wyatt away, turning around to lean on Victoria.
"Victoria, hurry up and get Trevor to lecture him. He's awful!"
Failing to notice her spoiled tone as if they were a family, Waverly leaned her soft body against Victoria. In return, Victoria comforted her, the corner of her lips couldn't help raising.
"Sure. Let's teach him a lesson for you."
As soon as she turned her eyes to Trevor, Trevor took a look at Wyatt before clearing his throat to say with a smile in his voice.
"Wyatt, you've gone too far!"
Exchanging glances, they chuckled. Knowing very well what was going on in each other's minds, the atmosphere instantly warmed.
As the men had business to deal with, Trevor and Wyatt respectively left to handle their affairs. Since Waverly felt uncomfortable from the horse ride, she was sent to Trevor's private room by Victoria.
In the room, two women gossiped. Sometimes they would pour their heart out while snacking on delicacies. One drew a picture, while the other typed on the laptop. They had a good time and regretted not having spent enough time together.
"Are you drawing Trevor?"
Looking at the man's profile on the drawing paper, Waverly couldn't help but enviously point out, "You two have a great relationship!"
Victoria could draw so well without models. It was obvious that Trevor's figure and image had long been engraved in her heart!
"Well, it's better to draw something to vent my boredom when I have nothing to do. They're always talking but no action. Look at how they left us alone to deal with official businesses? We will never know when they're free again!"
Although she said so, Waverly could tell that she was not dissatisfied. Sensing the couple's affection for each other, Waverly was deeply envious.
She was about to respond when she heard a commotion outside the door. Exchanging glances, both of them were stunned.
"What happened?"
Shaking her head, Victoria placed the brush aside and suggested, "I'll take a look!"
As soon as she opened the door, Trevor and Wyatt entered her sight. "What's going on?"
After entering the door, Trevor explained, "We seemed to have been schemed against. Mr. Harris is most probably here with a purpose. Did anyone come by during this period? Did anything unusual happen?"
As they tried their best to recall, Trevor's cellphone rang. After unlocking his phone, he noticed an online transfer slip sent by Mr. Harris. Without having to tap on it, the figure shown was automatically transferred into his account. Though so, it was not a large figure of about 100,000 dollars.
"What's going on?"
In an instant, Trevor was bewildered.
Glancing at the screen, Waverly said, "It must have been installed with the Trojan Horse program. Your phone isn't guarded against the list of your contacts and friends, is it?!"
There were a lot of importantnoveldrama
information and security softwares
installed on their mobile phones.
When it came to social media applications, it was easy to be taken advantage of. For example, the "acceptance" of a friend request sent may have hidden viruses hidden behind the button. The concise word could lead to the formation of a gap in the solid city defense of their mobile phones.
"Why did he transfer such a small amount of money to you?"
Victoria muttered in confusion, while the expression on Wyatt's face changed drastically.
"Money used to purchase drugs! It must not be limited to the drugs we've just found! They want to verify the fact that you hid poison, worst still, carried out drug trafficking! If so, there must be some things we have yet to find! The reason why Mr. Harris spent so much effort on this trip might just be to get your phone number and get through this obstacle. After all, it is not easy for outsiders to have the chance to get
your number. As for this club, it's under your name..."
Exchanging glances, Trevor understood all at once, "There must be more of it in this room!"
The club was huge. Although it was his property, he was partly responsible for the oversight in monitoring the operation if illegal trading were to take place. It was not a big deal. After all, it was common since he owned such a huge business.
To completely associate the matter with him, his enemies would have to plot against him not only in his territory and cell phone but also his closely related space, which was his private dining room. In the room, no outsider was allowed to enter or leave at will.
Wyatt nodded and went on to say.
"I'm afraid the police must be on their way!" The man had schemed against him and made up a fake influential individual, Mr. Harris. He must have had a long- premeditated plan. Things were not that simple!
The four searched the room upon remembering how servants had sent a plate of fruits over, while Victoria had been called to leave the place. Back then, Waverly remained in the bedroom, so it was most likely in the outer hall.
After scanning her surroundings, Victoria found a small bag in a vase. "Is this it?"
Pinching the packet, she could sense that it was powder wrapped in paper.
Was it the packet of drugs they had been referring to?
"That's right!"
"Hurry up and destroy it!"
Right then, footsteps sounded from the corridor. "Get out of the way. The police
are here for an investigation!"
"Oh no, it's too late!"
With a flash of inspiration, Victoria urged,
"Give it to me! I have a solution!"
Turning to the side, Victoria directly
poured the powder into a small ink box on the side before diluting the dye and sprinkling it onto the completed abstract painting. It
seemed that she added severa net
casual strokes to it, but all the powder was wiped out. Immediately after, she burned the paper bag into ashes and added it to the black dye on the palette before pricking her fingers and dripping a few drops of blood into it.
"Vicky, what are you doing?"
Holding her hand, Trevor was shocked. Victoria comforted him by saying, "It's fine. Only by doing this can we hide the smell!"
On the other hand, Waverly grabbed Trevor's phone. "Leave the online transfer
slip to me. I'll clear it off for you! Two minutes!" Fortunately, she had brought her laptop over that day!
After connecting her phone to the laptop through a USB cable with her fingers flying across the keyboard, everyone witnessed as the screen of the laptop blacked out before it constantly flashed with different colors of codes, followed by which the online transfer slip on the phone and chat records related to Mr. Harris were deleted.
