Alpha's Second Chance

Chapter 0312

NOAH

After our quick dessert in the kitchen, we got dressed, and I brought her outside. I had made sure to let warriors on patrol, as well as Dad and Enzo, know.

We walked into the forest just behind the castle, and Madeleine undressed so she could shift. I shifted into Lucian, and then we started to run, and Lily bolted off between the trees. I feel bad they have not had much chance to do this, and I promised myself I would change that.

It was fun seeing Lily just enjoying being free for a little while, and after a while, I noticed how the ground where she ran began to change. Small flowers started showing, and the grass grew fast. Lucian and I watched, fascinated, as she had fun until she reached an old tree that was dying.

Unexpected, they shifted back into their human form, and a baked Madeleine looked at me and smiled.

"I have learned a lot, not only how to make everything look pretty. But also how to protect and help life around me." She said, and it didn't make much sense what she said.

She went over to the dead tree and put her forehead against it, and then she said some words. I looked around her and saw how the ground started changing. Then the tree started getting its natural color back, and fresh new branches grew. Leaves started growing, looking big and healthy, and the last small flowers formed between the leaves.

It was beautiful to see something I thought was dead get back to life, even if it was just a tree. I couldn't take my eyes off Madeleine, and she had this small summer green glow around her. When she was satisfied that the tree was alive again, she stepped away and looked at me.

Lucian had let me get control, and I was now in my human form as well. I sniffed myself some hidden clothes and found a shirt. I handed it to Madeleine. She took it on so she wasn't naked, and we sat down in the grass around the new tree.

"That was amazing," I tell her and kisses her.noveldrama

"I have learned a lot. Greta says the source of my power is a lot like hers. As a witch, for her, the best power is the one she can get from the nature. But my powers are not like a witch's, and my powers are the nature if that makes sense." She tells me.

"And nature creates life," I say and smile.

"Yes." She says and smiles before she continues.

"But it's more than just creating life. I can get the nature to fight for me. Use the breaches from the trees to protect and catch vines to capture and kill. The ground makes traps holes and makes trees fall. But I can also use the nature to save others if someone is badly hurt and dying. But it's not without a price for the natural nature around us." She finishes.

I don't know what I should say, so I nod my head and kiss her forehead.

"I still have a lot to learn. To be honest, I don't think I will ever fully understand all of it." She whispers.

"And that is okay. Mom always says her powers might be healing powers, but even that can have a price, such as her own life. That's why Dad doesn't like it when she wants help wounded warriors. He is afraid one day it will rake her away from him.” I tell her, and she nods her head.

"I still don't fully understand how far I can go. But I know it makes me tired, even when I pull the energy from the ground. So I am careful.”

Shone

"Good. Because I understand what my Dad feels, I would not want to live in a world without you." I say, and she turns her head and kisses me.

"You don't have to, ever." She promises.

"Thank you for taking me out here. I know it is not easy right now." She says, and I smile.

"I promise we will try to do it some more. I never want you to feel like you are a prisoner," I tell her.

"I don't, and I understand it is necessary right now. And I am not complaining." She says and yawns.

We stand up, and I carry her back through the forest and into our place at the castle. And I remember that there was something I wanted to ask her.

"What do you think of living here in the castle?" I ask her.

"It is nice, everything that was made for us, but the castle is also open for everyone. I wouldn't mind our own place. Some day." She says honestly.

"I thought of that. Mom says if we someday want to, we can make our own house. Or we can renovate the one your family stayed at, my grandfather's old house." I tell her.

"I love that house, but if we get our own, I would like it to really be ours." She says

as I place her in our bed.

"We built our own then, just the way we like it," I tell her, and I smile at her before getting into bed and lying down.

"I love you, Noah. And I thank the moon goodness every day that she made me yours." She whispers as he rests her head on me.

"I love you too, Madeleine. Now and forever." I tell her, and I feel her smile as we fall asleep.
