Chapter 430
Kay's p.o.v.
We were at the house until after dinner time and I know there will be hell to pay for missing it, but Mack looks surprised when he sees that there are no lights on nor are there any Warriors outside.
"Fuck, I forgot to ask the Warriors to guard Maleah and the house after lunch." Mack mutters and we all mutter "Fuck" when the door turns out to be locked. I take a chance as I link Dax to ask about Maleah, but he tells us he covered for us and that she went home after dinner.
When I tell him that she isn't here and that Mack forgot to place Warriors with her he starts cussing and swearing. Within minutes a handful of Warriors and our Alphas show up and a very pissed off looking Diego.noveldrama
"Why the fuck were there no Warriors protecting my Daughter?" He yells as he stalks towards Mack.
"Diego, the three of us are to blame. We walked her to Ariel's studio and we knew there was a change she wouldn't make it back for lunch, because she had a lot of work to do. Mack thought it was unnecessary for the Warriors to guard the house while she wasn't there and after lunch we went back to work.
We were too busy going over everything we needed to do, that we forgot to inform the Warriors." I tell Diego and the look in his eyes tells me that he doesn't really believe me. Dax sends the Warriors to check the territory, before he tells us to head inside.
"I think you have some explaining to do." He growls.
Diego grabs the binder from the coffee table and looks at the three of us one by one, "Tell me that this is here for the reason I think it is." He says with a huge smile on his face.
"Do you know that she was so preoccupied for days after she came to the conclusion that not only multiples can share a Mate?" He asks.
"That wasn't Maleah, that was Fortune." Levi mumbles and Diego looks at us while Dax grabs the binder from his hands.
"You need to tell her about the house, that way she knows where to look for you when you are not here. She didn't return to the Pack-house and according to a Warrior that walked by here hours ago, she was inside checking the windows and closing doors throughout the house.
Gather some men at the Pack-house and start searching for her." Dillon says before he walks out of Maleah's house. Our Alphas remain in the Pack-house while the Warriors are split into four groups, we will start searching from our borders.
Maybe one of us can pick up her scent or that of a stranger and hopefully that will lead us to wherever they are holding Maleah, I just hope it is someone that is after the bounty on her head.
I don't want to think about what might happen if Alpha Bradley managed to get her out of the territory and Titan is whimpering in the back of my head, he hates this even more than I do. He feels as if he failed his Mates and in a way we did fail our Mate.
I take the western border and we question everyone we meet along the way, but no one has seen
anything strange. We search the net
territory meticulously until we get to the western border, there is still a stretch of forest before you get to the main road and we continue our meticulous search until we reach the road. If they managed to get her here than our search grid needs to widen, because from here they could have gone anywhere.
Our southern border is mainly surrounded by forest, but our gate is positioned there and both other borders are completely surrounded by forest. This is going to be a long and tiring night for all of us. Dax asks through the mind-link if anyone found something and we all have to tell him that there is no trace of Maleah, making him cuss and swear down the mind-link again.
"Okay, let's search across the road for anything you can find. If they managed to get her here I hope we find traces of a vehicle." I order.
We spread out to cover as much ground as we can, but we stick close enough together that we don't miss a thing and every few minutes I get called to a spot. Unfortunately every scent we smell is older than twelve hours and at that time she was still at the Pack-house, having dinner with our Alphas and former leadership.
I get more and more worried about her safety the more time passes and Titan is not making things easier for me.
Mack's responds through the mind-link get shorter every time someone asks how things are going and I am afraid that he might blow a gasket if we don't find something soon.
"Levi, how are you and Largo doing?" I ask him because he hasn't answered a question in nearly an hour.
"Kay, what if he marked her?" I hear him whisper back and Titan releases a mighty roar, not liking the question.
"She will kill him the first change she gets and that will be the minute she wakes up answer both Levi and Titan. There is no doubt in my mind that she will kill Alpha Bradley if he was able to forcefully mark her, but something tells me that if she was taken it would be for the bounty on her head and that frightens me more than Maleah being in the hands of Alpha Bradley.
Dax asks me through the mind-link what we found and before I can answer him Mack, Levi and Diego show up.
"Sorry, Titan didn't like the question Levi asked. If it is Alpha Bradley or someone working for him that took her she will kill him before he can blink his eyes and that is actually the scenario I am hoping for, because if someone figured out who she is..." I let my sentence trail off, because I know they can finish it for themselves and a shiver runs down my spine.
Diego is shaking his head while Levi and Mack are clenching their fists, none of us wants to think about any of those scenarios but at some point we might have to. I am not sure if it is easy to find out that Maleah is the Angel of Death, we never tried because we agreed with the Wolves and Lycans she took out and I think our Alphas were happy those assignments never ended up on their desks.
"Beta, something is approaching." One of the Warriors on my team says as he looks down the road, but no matter how hard I stare in the direction he is looking I can't see anything. Then I see something moving from one side of the road to the other side and he asks me if I saw it too as I narrow my eyes to see if it gets better that way, but of course it doesn't.
"I saw it too, but I can't tell you what is approaching us." I answer him and in seconds the Warriors from the other three teams are standing behind us.
We can all see that whatever it is, is coming closer and suddenly most of us mutter, "Thank the Goddess."
What do you think?
